Spot these rosettes now, stop dandelions later ❎

Dandelions start low and leafy in fall before those yellow blooms show up.

🧑‍🔬 Brown isn’t bad—it’s biology!

Warm-season grasses rest through winter but aren’t gone for good. Think of dormancy as your lawn’s 'long winter's nap' before spring.💤

Frost can do more than sparkle—it can also shove your turf around! 🥶

Frost heave happens when soil expands and contracts, pushing the roots up, but proper care throughout the earlier seasons of the year keeps your lawn resilient all winter!

💚 What does moss love? Shade + Moisture.
❎ What does it hate? Competition!

Improve drainage, trim back shade, and feed your grass well to keep moss from taking over.

Not every green leaf belongs in your lawn 🌿

Broadleaf plantain can take over bare spots fast.
Keeping your turf thick and healthy helps crowd it out
naturally.

Perennial w**ds like this thrive in weak, thin turf.
Proper turf maintenance, including fertilizer and w**d
control, is the key to taking care of this w**d.

🫣 Out of sight doesn’t mean out of your lawn. Did you know that turf diseases like Brown Patch, Large Patch, and Pythium Blight can overwinter in soil and thatch.

🍂 Cultural practices are the first line of defense against overwintering turf diseases here in Southern Wake County:

• Manage thatch and compaction through regrading and aeration.
• Don't "scalp" your lawn before winter.
• Water early and don't overdo it. Deep and infrequent is best over the winter.
• Prune trees or shrubs that shade the lawn too heavily.
• Remove fallen leaves ASAP!

If you've had issue with turf diseases in your lawn, follow these tips and give Lawn Doctor of Southern Wake County a call- we are happy to do a free lawn evaluation to make treatment recommendations.

Those pretty purple blooms? Not so innocent.

WILD VIOLETS are winter annual or perennial w**ds that creep through your lawn. They grow in clumps and crowd out healthy turf. Check the shady sections of your yard because these are the spots you're most likely to find them.

The violet flowers start to appear in early spring and summer, but the sooner you spot them, the easier they are to control.

Do w**ds seem to pop up in your lawn out of nowhere? You might need a Lawn Doctor 🫣
