PSA… Everyone is asking how the roads are. Lloyd Peach with GTX Plumbing tried to get out at 10:30 this morning to assess the safety for our crews. This is Williams Dr in Georgetown. It is also important to note that most freeze related repairs cannot even be done until the ice thaws. In the meantime please contact us for some home remedies that may get you through or possibly even fix your issues. We have already talked many homeowners through the hot towel trick, which has restored their water. They have other tips as well that may save you from a costly service call.

01/26/25: We couldn't add questions today due to the high volume of calls coming in, of which we were able to directly help our community deal with emergent issues and concerns. We saw some slight thawing later in the day today, which for some led to flooding, with a clear indication of busted pipes. We are also seeing broken pipes, but no sign of leaks or damage. This can be due to an ice clog or dam blocking the water from flowing. According to current weather predictions, tomorrow afternoon should be a more thorough thawing. At that point it is imperative that you know how to shut off the water to your home or business to avoid catastrophic damage, in case there is a burst pipe.

01/25/25: Questions are pouring in about damage and consequences since the freezing weather has hit. We are adding some of the more common issues to this post. If you need clarification or have individual questions, please contact us directly at the numbers below. We are here with live phone service to talk you through it, get water turned back on and minimize damage. Ask The Master Plumber now!

We just can't Let It Go! Here are more tips from Paul Rueda and Lloyd Peach, for this weekend's Big Winter Blowout!

01/21/2026

šŸ“£ Attention! This is not a drill! Reports indicate that a prolonged stretch of bitter cold is about to settle in, temperatures are likely to stay below freezing for an extended period. That means melting will be slow, and impacts could linger for several days after the storm ends. Cold like this can be hard on plumbing, so now is the time to prepare. Paul and Lloyd have put together this video with steps to help prevent frozen pipes.

Here are a few Thanksgiving plumbing tips to help you enjoy family time to the fullest:

1. Don’t Throw Leftovers Down the Drain!
Sure, it’s easier to just throw leftovers down the drain, but this will almost certainly clog it. Instead, throw leftovers in the trash or compost pile so there won’t be any clogging. If you choose to throw them down the drain, feed waste gradually to prevent overloading. Also, make sure to never pour fats or cooking oils in the drain as they will solidify in pipes. Use paper towels to wipe grease from pots, then throw them in the trash.

2. Make Sure the Disposal Is Running!
Another common mistake that can clog your drain is not turning the disposal on before putting food into it. To avoid plumbing issues due to the garbage disposal, make sure to turn on the faucet to allow the drain to fill with water before you put any food into it. Keep the water running for a short time after turning it off so the waste won’t clog the drain.

3. Use a Sink Strainer!
The best way to prevent clogging your drain is using a sink strainer to prevent any food from going down it. This will keep the water running while making sure that no leftovers will pass through it. The waste gathered in the strainer can be thrown in the trash or compost pile once you’re done washing the dishes. With a little bit of precaution, even the most challenging plumbing problems can be easily avoided.

4. Wait at Least 10 Minutes Between Showers!
Many of us have family guests for the holidays. Ask them to wait at least 10 minutes between showers to allow for your water heater to recycle and provide adequate hot water for everyone.
