Hero of the Week - November 18, 2021

RODGER PEARCE - VOLUNTEER

Rodger Pearce is spotlighted for his quick action in getting medical attention for a senior. Rodger recently delivered Meals on Wheels to a senior in the Milton area. When he knocked at her door, he heard a voice from inside telling him that the senior had fallen during the night. Although she was able to get herself into a chair, she was not able to get up. Rodger notified the CHEER center director who instructed him to call 911 and say there until the paramedics arrived. Rodger kept talking with the lady through the door to keep her calm until help arrived.

Rodger works for Megee Plumbing and became a CHEER volunteer MOW driver – through the partnership with CHEER and Megee’s – when COVID19 began. He stayed on the entire pandemic time and is still delivering MOW for Milton. One of the destination of his deliveries are residents in Luther Towers Apartments.

Thank you Rodger for her kindness and caring for our senior clients. Your quick action contributed to the well-being of this senior.
