When a tree came down on this home, it left more than just visible damage—it compromised the structure of the roof system.

We were brought in to reframe and restore the structural integrity—making sure everything was built back stronger, straighter, and ready for the next phase.

Big thank you to Big Fish Roofing for trusting us to be part of this project and bringing us in. Their team handled the roofing side with precision, and the finished product speaks for itself. Also appreciate them capturing such a great shot of the completed work.

Projects like this are a reminder that the right partnerships make all the difference. When teams align, the outcome is something everyone can stand behind.

If you or someone you know is dealing with storm or structural damage, we’re here to help rebuild it the right way.

One of the most common questions we hear when looking at older decks is:
“Can’t we just grandfather it in?”
It’s a fair question. Many decks were built decades ago under older building codes, and homeowners often assume that if it has been there for years, it must still be acceptable.
But when it comes to safety, things work a little differently.
If a deck or structure is unsafe, deteriorated, or failing structurally, it cannot simply be “grandfathered in.” Unsafe conditions must be repaired, rebuilt, or removed so the structure meets modern safety standards.
Over the years, building codes have improved for good reason. Updated requirements for footings, framing, railings, and structural connections help prevent failures and keep families safe.
If you’ve ever wondered about the safety of your deck, we wrote a short article explaining how this works and what homeowners should know.

Recently we had the opportunity to visit the DuxxBak decking manufacturing facility in Green Bay, Wisconsin and see firsthand how their decking systems are made.
As builders, we spend a lot of time thinking about structure, materials, and longevity. Walking through the facility and seeing the product from raw materials to finished boards gave me a whole new appreciation for the engineering and craftsmanship behind the system.
One thing that stood out was the consistency across the entire brand. Every DuxxBak product line is built to the same standards and backed by the same warranty, so homeowners aren’t sacrificing quality depending on which system they choose.
Another aspect that aligns strongly with our values at Heritage Deck & Frame is that the entire system is manufactured in the United States, supporting American manufacturing and local economies.
DuxxBak is a water-shedding composite decking system designed to keep the space beneath your deck dry while resisting rot, mold, and weather damage. ()
As a small business, supporting companies that invest in their communities matters to us. Being able to bring this decking system to homeowners in the Pittsburgh area is something we’re genuinely excited about.
If you're curious what makes this decking system unique, I wrote a short article about the visit and what we learned.
