An ecosystem of happiness builds nutrients to fertilize the spirit.

Where do you find those little moments?

Trying out 2 new things here…

1: New companion planting: carrots, tomatillos, nasturtiums, & snapdragons.

2: String trellis- tied to the top of bamboo and clipped to plants from butcher twine (not burlap twine- that breaks down too quickly)

Follow me as these new experiments unfold this season.

Pest control the way mother nature intended.

You know what’s worse than bugs in your garden?

No bugs in your garden 👀 that’s the real nightmare.

Plant flowers like Alyssum to attract beneficial insects like hover-flies and other parasitic insects that feast on aphids.

If you learned something, give this a like & follow.

What’s your take on plucking suckers?

I’ve always been a plucker on indeterminate varieties.

“My cilantro goes to flower right away”

Plant a few seeds every 2 weeks. Then harvest them as the plant is in a young stage before flowering occurs.

If you stick to this routine, you’ll have fresh tender cilantro all summer long.

The funny thing about gardening is that every season feels long while you’re in it, but looking back, it goes by fast.

If you garden for 20 years, that’s only 20 chances to grow something you’ve never grown before.

20 chances to try.
20 chances to fail.
20 chances to surprise yourself.

So plant the flower.
Start the garden.
Try the seed you’ve been saving.

What are you waiting for?

🌱 Every bloom starts with a chance.

What fascinates me most is how a simple ingredient can transform into something completely different with just time, salt, and beneficial microbes.

What are you doing for your gut?

What should I ferment next?

The garden always gives you something to look forward to.

Right now… it’s garlic scape season.

In the next few weeks these curly garlic flower stalks will start popping up, and before they ever bloom, they’ll be harvested for the kitchen. Last round it was chive blossom compound butter… this round, garlic scapes are taking over.

And here’s the cool part: removing the scapes actually helps the garlic bulbs underground. By cutting the flower stalk off, the plant can focus its energy on bulb development instead of flowering. Bigger bulbs. Better harvest. More flavor for the pantry.

By mid-June, those bulbs should be swelling up nicely underground, and I’ll be sharing exactly how I know when it’s time to harvest, cure, and dry them so they last us through the year.

This is the kind of rhythm I love about gardening. Every season leads into the next. Every harvest becomes another ingredient for the kitchen.

Follow along if you want to learn how to grow food, preserve it, and turn simple garden moments into year-round traditions.
