Waterproofing done right. 💪

We pulled the existing sheathing, resheathed the deck with new 3/4-inch plywood, installed custom door pans and custom drip edge, then finished everything with a Rhino Linings traffic-rated waterproof coating.

One detail most people never see is what happens at the doors. To install a proper waterproof pan, the doors had to be carefully lifted and temporarily suspended while we completed the waterproofing system underneath. It takes extra planning, but it's the right way to make sure water is directed away from the home instead of finding its way inside.

Huge thanks to Rhino Linings of Auburn for another quality install. Always great working with people who take pride in doing it right.

🔨 Deck building is a niche trade.

If you're investing in a new deck, make sure you're hiring someone who specializes in decks—not someone who builds a little bit of everything. 👊

The finished product is only as good as the structure underneath it. With today's PVC and composite decking, homeowners are buying products that can last decades. The framing needs to be built with the same mindset. 💪

✅ Joist protection tape
✅ Properly graded and planed joists
✅ Mid-span blocking
✅ Correct flashing details
✅ Water management

These aren't the flashy parts of a deck project—but they're often what determines whether that deck still looks great 10, 20, or even 30 years from now. 📏

Anyone can install decking boards. The real craft is building a structure that stays flat, drains correctly, and stands the test of time. 👌

One of the things we're most proud of at Decks Rx isn't just the decks we build—it's the people who helped build this company.

Today we stopped by one of our projects to check in on Jeremiah with Coffey's Construction. Jeremiah has been a big part of the Decks Rx story, and it's always rewarding to see the same attention to detail, craftsmanship, and standard operating procedures being carried out in the field.

A lot of what makes Decks Rx what it is today comes from the people who have invested their time, effort, and knowledge into building it. Jeremiah is one of those people.

While he's building his own business, he's also helping us continue to deliver the level of quality our clients expect. That's something we're proud of.
