When homeowners in the California Coast & Bay Area ask what they can do about mosquitoes, I usually suggest focusing on the areas around the home that hold moisture or standing water.

One of the biggest things is checking for anything outside that’s collecting water longer than it should.

It also helps to trim back dense landscaping near patios and walkways so those areas get better airflow and don’t stay damp all day.

Another thing I mention a lot is changing birdbath or pet water regularly instead of letting it sit for days at a time.

Small changes like these can make a noticeable difference when they’re done consistently.

I recently handled a mosquito issue nearby and explained what we found and what actually helped reduce the activity long-term:

June is when mosquito activity really starts becoming noticeable across the California Coast & Bay Area.

A lot of homeowners first notice it in the evenings — sitting outside for a few minutes and suddenly dealing with bites around the patio, garage, or backyard.

Most of the time, the issue isn’t just the mosquitoes you can see. It’s the conditions around the property that are allowing them to keep breeding.

Standing water, damp areas, clogged gutters, and shaded landscaping all make a difference.

What starts as “a few mosquitoes outside” can turn into avoiding parts of the yard altogether if the activity keeps building through summer.

Here’s a recent 5-star review from Steve, a California Coast & Bay Area customer:

“Chris & Jonathan are good people and they take care of business. It was a pleasure! Thank you.”

This job involved ant activity that had been coming back around the home. Once we identified the entry points and handled the source, the issue stopped repeating.

Thanks, Steve, for taking the time to share your experience.

When ant activity keeps repeating, that’s usually when I get called out to homes across the California Coast & Bay Area.

Ant control almost always starts outside. I begin with a full inspection to understand where ants are coming from and what’s supporting the activity.

From there, I focus on identifying entry points, moisture areas, and conditions around the home that allow ants to keep returning. Treating only what’s visible inside usually doesn’t solve the problem long-term.

We also address things like landscaping close to the structure, gaps around doors and windows, and areas where ants are finding consistent access.

The goal isn’t just to stop what you see today. It’s to make sure the same issue doesn’t come back next week.

When homeowners in the California Coast & Bay Area ask what they can do about ants, I usually keep it simple. You don’t need anything complicated, just a few consistent habits.

Start by keeping counters clean and wiping down areas where food is prepared. Even small crumbs or spills can keep ants coming back. It also helps to store dry goods and snacks in sealed containers instead of leaving them in open packaging.

Outside, make sure mulch and soil aren’t sitting right against the foundation. That creates moisture and gives ants a hidden path toward the house. Fixing small leaks under sinks or around outdoor faucets is just as important, since ants are always looking for water.

I also suggest checking around doors and windows for small gaps and sealing them when possible. And try not to leave food or pet bowls out overnight, especially in warmer months.

Ants follow patterns. If you change the conditions, you usually break that pattern.

May is when I start seeing steady ant activity across the California Coast & Bay Area.

By this point, it’s not just a random ant here or there. It’s the same spots showing activity every day — near sinks, along baseboards, or by doors leading outside.

Most homeowners I talk to are already cleaning and trying to stay on top of it. They wipe things down, maybe use a spray, but the ants keep coming back. That’s usually the frustrating part.

Ants don’t just wander in for no reason. If they’re showing up consistently, they’ve found something — moisture, food, or an easy way in. Once they establish that path, they keep using it.

I see this pattern a lot across the California Coast & Bay Area. It starts small, but if nothing changes, it spreads into more areas of the home.

Here’s a recent 5-star review from Nancy Rasmussen, a California Coast & Bay Area customer:

“Abel was very professional and informative. Jonathan completed the job and got it done in a timely fashion. Great customer service!”

This job involved ongoing spider activity around the home that kept coming back in the same areas. Once we addressed the exterior conditions and treated the right spots, the issue stopped repeating.

Reviews like this matter because spider problems aren’t usually about one-time cleanup. It’s about fixing the reason they keep coming back.

Thank you, Nancy Rasmussen, for taking the time to share your experience.

When spider activity keeps coming back, that’s usually when I get called out to homes across the California Coast & Bay Area.

Spider control almost always starts outside. I begin with a full inspection to understand what’s supporting the activity and why it keeps returning.

From there, I focus on treating exterior areas to reduce insect activity, since that’s what attracts spiders in the first place. I also clear out active webbing zones and treat those areas so they’re less likely to be reused.

I check around the home for entry points as well, making sure spiders aren’t getting inside through small gaps around doors, windows, or vents. At the same time, I look at the overall conditions that allow them to settle and stick around.

If needed, I recommend a few simple adjustments to help prevent the activity from coming back.

The goal isn’t just to clear webs once, it’s to stop the problem from returning the same way.
