The Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) has launched the new Water Infrastructure Grants Dashboard, an interactive tool that visualizes how water infrastructure funds are being invested in communities across the state.

The dashboard allows local officials, community members, and other stakeholders to quickly explore active projects, see approximate project locations, and review key funding details. Users can view each grant-funded project’s funding sources, total award amounts, project summaries, and current status.

The largest expansion in WASDA member Specification Rubber Products’ 58-year history is now complete. The company recently celebrated the opening of its new 120,000 square-foot warehouse that will house finished goods inventory, raw materials and administrative operations. The new facility sits on more than 16 acres in Pelham and is located less than half a mile from Spec Rubber’s manufacturing headquarters in Alabaster.

“This is Spec Rubber’s seventh expansion since opening our doors in 1968,” said Spec Rubber President Steven A. Smith. “The new facility represents our future and gives us the room we require to grow. This addition will enable us to achieve our strategic goals over the next five to 10 years and ensure we continue to meet the needs of our customers. It’s an investment in our operations, teammates and our future.”

A room full of familiar and new faces at the annual WASDA Washington Summit this past April.

WASDA members joined our advocates at Van Scoyoc Associates (VSA) for a 3-day event on The Hill. Attendees participated in a Legislative Debriefing, heard presentations from members of U.S. Congress and Agencies, visited with U.S. Representatives and Senators, and networked with colleagues.

This year, WASDA Members identified three critical issues that informed conversations on The Hill including funding, workforce development, and permitting reform. All WASDA members can review the corresponding ISSUE BRIEFS in our government relations page for continued conversations with not only USGOs but also with local officials in their communities and municipalities. The 2026 Municipal Infrastructure Conditions (MIC) Survey offers an updated, comparative view of how local governments rate the condition of their infrastructure today—and how those assessments and priorities have shifted since 2022.

Cities continue to prioritize core systems that support daily operations and public safety, including streets, water, sewer and stormwater systems, and water treatment facilities. These assets consistently rank as top priorities, even as their conditions shift.

The 2026 WASDA Washington Summit delivered real momentum for our industry. With expert guidance from our advocacy partner Van Scoyoc Associates (VSA), members were thoroughly prepared to engage on Capitol Hill and clearly communicate the value of water and sewer distribution to our nation’s infrastructure.

Our advocacy focused on three priorities critical to your business:
• Securing sustainable funding for water and sewer projects
• Advancing meaningful permitting reform to cut delays and uncertainty
• Strengthening workforce development to build and retain skilled talent

The impact doesn’t end in Washington. After the Summit, WASDA members host policymakers at their own facilities—showing firsthand the projects, people, and innovations that keep America’s water infrastructure running.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has announced more than $13 million in new Emerging Contaminants in Small or Disadvantaged Communities (EC-SDC) grant funding to address PFAS and other emerging contaminants in Indiana communities that need it most. This investment is a critical step toward reducing harmful exposure, protecting public health, and advancing long-term solutions for clean, safe drinking water.

For WASDA we will continue to advocate for robust federal and state partnerships that prioritize infrastructure upgrades and safeguard water quality.
