Can anyone have a pond?
Can just any contractor build a pond? Negative.
The backstory on this pond through another contractor was to build a 1 acre pond. Geology of the site never performed, BMP's none were done. He moved an intermittent stream to be turned into pond and aimed at where he dug into the water edge of a blue line stream in a major storm water area of Shades falls and the black creek. Your supposed to stay 50' away.
So in a basic storm water permit from ADEM you break ground, do your BMP's, and every 13 days you close those areas by seeding and strawing or hydro seed.
He left it open for months throughout the winter.
There's an outflow into the black creek. ADEM and army core of engineers are alerted , job halted. Moneys are spent to grass, hydroseed, silt fence 1000', permits, engineering firms tasked. Then two years later after so much grief the owner reached out to us at Big Rock Ponds (Brp), to find out how we can help to get it finished up .
The pond was area wide fractured sandstone, gravelish sandstone, chert , and a lot of sandy loam. This area not a pond area.
Through Drew Hay, he helped me with a process of to use polymers. It's short of amazing stuff. If this area can hold water any place can.

Well here we go again. Previous installer of primary overflow used 12" gasket push pipe. He didn't know you have to rasp or grind down outer leading edge of pipe going past gasket into bell.
This has been a leak ever sense into middle of d**e. Also Tar was used to seal turn up fitting instead of glue. An oil residue always to be seen on surface of water.
It's finally fixed, all glue on 12" sch 40 PVC with 90 degree turn up with a bar atrium grate to keep turtles out. Water level set for 8" below grass root line.
