We are a large Commercial Snow Removal and Lawn Maintenance company located in the west suburbs and are seeking to fill an open role of our Fleet Mechanic. This is a full-time position, working mostly outdoors.
Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Able to Service large, Gas/Diesel Chevy and Ford truck fleet, lawn maintenance equipment, misc. equipment, and Heavy Duty CAT Equipment (skid steers and wheel loaders) as required to ensure proper operating condition.
Perform safety inspections and preventive maintenance on equipment.
Maintain clean and safe work environment.
Must be diesel and hydraulic qualified.
Has experience repairing and maintaining small equipment.
Has experience repairing and maintaining snow plows and salters.
Must be familiar with electrical systems.
Must be able to work on all types of vehicles and equipment (must have experience
with skid steers, wheel loaders and related equipment).
Scanner troubleshooting experience preferred.
Must have a clean driving record.
CDL license preferred, but not required.
Must be willing to travel between locations, using company provided vehicle.
Ability to drive company vehicles for service (good driving record).
Possess good communication skills to effectively communicate with managers.
Must have own tools for use at shop.
Knowledge on how to use power and hand tools.
Meet all company and governmental safety requirements.
Must have a cell phone with texting capabilities.
Prepare and maintain records and reports.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other agencies and the public.
Follow written and verbal instructions, including manufacturers’ service specifications.
Communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
Ability to use diagnostic software for Engine, Chassis, and ABS brakes.
Must be able to work in all outdoor conditions, including potential severe weather elements, cold conditions, rain, snow and ice.
Must be available on call 24/7 from November 1st - April 15th as this is our Snow Season.
Must have the ability to use abdominal and lower back muscles to support part of the body repeatedly or continuously over time.
Must be able to perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials.
Must be capable of lifting and moving objects weighing 80 to 90 pounds multiple times throughout the work day.
Must work directly with the Fleet Manager.
