Earlier this month, Mesa County and SGM hosted a public meeting for Phase II of the Coffman Road Rehabilitation project. Community members had the opportunity to meet directly with project engineers, learn more about the project, and provide feedback on design alternatives.

Public engagement is a critical part of creating infrastructure solutions that serve the people who use them every day. We’re proud to be part of a project focused on improving safety, mobility, and connectivity while reflecting the needs and priorities of the community.

SGM’s involvement includes culvert replacement, roadway widening, intersection and drainage improvements, and construction of an 8-foot-wide concrete pathway connecting the post office through town.

Before summer break kicked off, SGM’s HQ hosted a group of Glenwood Springs High School juniors for two days of hands-on learning! 🚧

The students got a behind-the-scenes look at what engineers do through a junior engineer Q&A panel, a catapult-building competition, plan set reviews, and a site visit to the Redstone South Bridge project.

We're always stoked to connect with our local community, share what we do, and help inspire the next generation of Western Colorado engineers. Thanks to the students for spending a couple of days with us—we had a blast! 👏

Exciting progress in Redstone! 🌉SGM is proud to partner with Pitkin County on the replacement of the Redstone South Bridge over the Crystal River — a project that serves as the “front door” to the community.

And we are even more excited to see the girders going up and the project tracking nearly a month ahead of schedule.

SGM volunteered with Roaring Fork Outdoor Volunteers earlier this week to help with trail work on a Roaring Fork Valley favorite — the Red Hill Trail 🥾The work focused on drainage and erosion control to help maintain one of the valley’s most heavily used trail systems.

It was a rewarding way to spend an evening outside, give back to a trail system many of our staff benefit from, and connect with others across SGM.

🏗️In April, Shaw Construction LLC hosted a site tour of The Current, a new affordable housing development in Grand Junction. SGM is proud to partner with Shaw Construction and the Grand Junction Housing Authority (GJHA) to help bring quality, affordable housing to the Grand Valley community.

The SGM team provided survey, site civil and MEP engineering, environmental services, and grant support for The Current, a 52-unit affordable housing development currently under construction as the first phase of Confluence Subdivision — a planned 400-unit affordable housing community in Grand Junction. SGM’s work included public and private roadway and infrastructure design, parking design, all-electric building systems, EV charging infrastructure, 404 permitting, and master planning focused on walkability, open space, and long-term campus infrastructure coordination.

We’re grateful to support projects that strengthen our communities through collaboration and thoughtful design.

Every SGM office has its own personality—and in Grand Junction, that’s taken shape at the bowling alley. 🎳

What started as a holiday party for our Grand Junction office turned into a full-blown bowling league! SGM’s Redliners recently wrapped up a season of strikes, spares, and plenty of good times. While the team didn’t bring home a trophy this time around, their sights are set on getting back out on the lanes this winter.
