This project features a brand-new Cambridge paver patio, custom steps, railings, and a retaining wall,creating a functional, elegant outdoor space that’s built to last.

The finishing touches are still to come, with a new irrigation system and fresh sod installation that will complete the transformation.

🏗️ What you don’t see is what determines how long your patio will last.

One of the biggest reasons pavers sink isn’t the paver itself, it’s what’s underneath.

For this project, we had to excavate all the way to the home’s foundation before we could even begin building the patio. Our team:

✔️ Excavated to the bottom of the foundation
✔️ Waterproofed the foundation with tar
✔️ Installed Sonotubes for structural support
✔️ Added foundation insulation (foam)
✔️ Backfilled with clean ¾” stone for proper drainage
✔️ Poured a reinforced concrete pad
✔️ Installed the patio base and built the new steps

It’s a lot of work, but this is the difference between a patio that lasts for decades and one that begins to settle after just a few years.

At Sun Viking, we believe quality starts below the surface. We don’t cut corners, we build it right from the ground up.
