Hydrangeas are pretty neat in that the colors can change based on soil pH. Different varieties will show different tones of blue with acidic soil, as well as with more basic soil( high pH) the pinks may be different. There are supplements that can change the soil immediately around hydrangeas, but the color on these is purely due to natural soil.

Something we don't see much anymore - plastic pine straw. I can't think of anything good to say about it. It looks fake, doesn't insulate like the real thing, and it is impossible to get rid of. I cannot imagine an application where it would shine.
