Finished a quick carpet removal and replaced with laminate flooring (flooring has the underlayment attached for those questioning my process). Extended step ledge out another 8 inched and trimmed out.

Projects like these are quick and usually fairly inexpensive (depends on what type of laminate flooring you choose).
