Shop botanical goods at our farm stand, explore murals & book a tour by appointment—a place to wander & experience. Rooted in the Columbia River Gorge, Among the Trees Botanical Lavender Farm (formerly McLaughlin Lavender) is a women-owned, Native American-owned small farm dedicated to cultivating beauty, wellness, and community through lavender and regenerative agriculture. 🌿🪻

We grow lavender, herbs, flowers, and plant starts among native oak trees on our farm in Goldendale, Washington — creating botanical garden pockets gently woven into the land. Our goal is to work with nature, supporting pollinators, encouraging beneficial insects, and building healthy soil through regenerative farming practices. From our farm we craft a range of lavender and botanical goods — from soothing self-care products to culinary lavender and herbal offerings — all inspired by the land. You can find our products at The Dalles, OR and Hood River, OR Farmers Markets, and local events across the Columbia River Gorge, at our Little Lavender Boutique in the Market Place Underground in downtown La Grande, Oregon (1101 Washington Ave Suite 26), or by visiting our farm store in Goldendale, Washington, available by appointment along with farm tours. Our journey began with lavender plants in a backyard garden in La Grande and has grown into building a small botanical lavender farm and community gathering space. We proudly support other small businesses and makers and love collaborating with our regional farming and artisan community.

✨ Come grow with us — from seed to self-care, there’s always something blooming Among the Trees.

FROSTMAS has officially arrived at Among the Trees! ❄️🍂💜

And oh my goodness, is it BEAUTIFUL!

While I’m visiting family in Georgia, Mr. Lavender has been holding down the fort back home, and he captured some absolutely gorgeous photos of our first big frost of the season!

There’s something magical about seeing the farm covered in a delicate layer of frost. The grasses sparkle, the leaves are outlined in white, and everything looks like it’s been dusted with tiny crystals. ❄️✨

And just like that, Mother Nature has officially closed the chapter on our first FULL growing season at Among the Trees Botanical Lavender Farm. 🥹🌿

What a season it has been!

We’ve planted hundreds of lavender plants, established our first culinary lavender grove, expanded our gardens, planted new pollinator habitat, welcomed more animals, and continued turning this beautiful piece of land into the farm we’ve been dreaming about.

And let me tell you, we’ve learned A LOT! 😂

We’ve battled the summer heat, hauled more water than I care to remember, and spent countless hours watering plants by hand while slowly working toward getting irrigation systems set up.

That’s one of the realities of building an off-grid farm from the ground up. Sometimes the irrigation system is still on the to-do list, but the plants need water NOW! 😂💦

We’ve lost a few battles with the deer, learned that Mother Nature doesn’t particularly care about our carefully made plans, and discovered that there’s always something else that needs our attention.

And we’re nowhere near finished!

We still have garden spaces to complete, new raised beds to add, irrigation systems to expand, and about a million other ideas we’re excited to bring to life.

But that’s also part of what makes this journey so special. We’re not creating everything overnight. We’re building it little by little, learning as we go, and watching our vision slowly take shape.

For the first time, we’re getting to watch the land we’ve worked so hard on transition through an entire growing season. And there’s something really special about that.

And I can’t reflect on this first growing season without taking a moment to thank Will. ❤️

From the countless hours of hard work to helping bring my sometimes-crazy ideas to life, he’s been right there beside me through it all. His support, patience, encouragement, and willingness to jump into whatever project I’ve dreamed up mean more to me than I can put into words.

Building a farm from the ground up isn’t always easy, but getting to do it with your best friend makes the journey that much more special.

I’m so incredibly grateful to have him by my side, not just as we build Among the Trees, but through this whole adventure we call life. I really am one lucky girl. ❤️

The growing season may be ending, but farm life certainly isn’t slowing down just yet. There’s still plenty to prepare before winter settles in!

For now, I’m going to enjoy these beautiful photos and take a moment to appreciate just how far we’ve come since moving onto this property last September.

One growing season down, a lifetime of learning ahead. And I can’t wait to see what grows here next year. 🌱💜

Happy Frostmas from Among the Trees! ❄️🪻🍁

📸 A special thank-you to Mr. Lavender for capturing these absolutely gorgeous photos while I’m away! He has such a wonderful eye for the beauty around our farm, and I love getting to see these little moments through his lens. ❤️

A little fall magic, a surprise trip across the country, and one VERY surprised sister! 🍂🎃❤️

The morning I left Among the Trees, I woke up to the most beautiful blanket of fog rolling through the oak trees. Everything was quiet, the fall colors were showing off, and the entire farm had that peaceful, slightly mysterious feeling that makes autumn my absolute favorite season.

I couldn’t resist taking a few pictures before heading out. There’s just something about a foggy fall morning on the farm that makes me want to stop and soak it all in. 🌿🍁

But this week, I’ve traded our little farm in Washington for a trip back home to Georgia!

I’m currently outside of Atlanta, and my parents and I pulled off a pretty wonderful surprise for my older sister!

She had absolutely NO idea I was coming! When I walked around the corner and she realized I was standing there, she immediately started crying. And honestly, that moment alone made the entire trip worth it. 🥹❤️

I haven’t been home in years, and I have to admit, it feels a little strange being back.

So much has changed in my life since I was last here. We’ve moved across the country, started building our dream farm, and created a life that looks completely different from the one I used to know.

It’s a funny feeling to return somewhere so familiar when your life has changed so much.

And the reason for this surprise trip? HALLOWEEN! 🎃👻

My mom absolutely LOVES Halloween, and she’s throwing a big Halloween party on Friday. If you know my mom, you know she doesn’t do anything halfway when it comes to celebrating! 😂

It’s been far too long since I’ve been home, and I just couldn’t miss the opportunity to celebrate with my family, surprise my sister, and make some new memories together.

Meanwhile, back at Among the Trees, Mr. Lavender is holding down the fort! 😂🐐🦙

Will stayed behind to take care of our little zoo and keep everything running while I’m away. Someone has to keep those goats, llamas, chickens, dogs, and cats in line!

And don’t worry, you can still get your lavender fix this weekend!

Mr. Lavender will be at the Hood River Farmers Market this Saturday, Halloween costume and all! 🎃🪻

I won’t spoil the surprise, but if you’re in Hood River, stop by, say hello, grab some lavender goodies, and see what Mr. Lavender decided to dress up as! 😂

I’m so grateful for the life Will and I are building at Among the Trees, but I’m also grateful for moments like these that remind me how important it is to make time for the people we love.

So while I’m soaking up some family time in Georgia, I thought I’d share these beautiful photos from the morning I left the farm.

A little fog, autumn-colored oaks, family surprises, and a whole lot of gratitude for the life we’re building and the people who have been part of it.

Happy Halloween week from Among the Trees! 🍂🎃💜

One thing we absolutely love about living in Goldendale is being surrounded by people who are working hard to bring their dreams to life! ❤️🦌

We had the opportunity to visit our friends at Goldendale Reindeer and enjoy a delicious coffee from their new Velvet Cup Coffee House, along with some s’mores! ☕🔥

What an incredible place they’ve created!

One of the things we love most is how they’ve turned every little detail into an experience. From the adorable selfie stations and beautifully designed maps of the farm to Santa’s Workshop and, of course, the live reindeer, everything is thoughtfully put together to make your visit special!

You can tell how much thought, creativity, and love has gone into every corner of their farm. Nothing feels like an afterthought. They’ve created a place where families can slow down, spend time together, learn something new, and make memories they’ll carry with them long after Christmas. 🎄

And they do such a wonderful job teaching visitors about reindeer! Sharing their knowledge, explaining what makes these incredible animals so unique, and giving people an opportunity to learn while experiencing a little Christmas magic. 🦌❤️

But beyond all the holiday magic, what really inspires us is seeing what our friends have built.

As we’re building our own farm from the ground up, we know firsthand how much hard work, dedication, and determination goes into turning a dream into reality. The long days, endless projects, unexpected challenges, and all those little victories along the way.

Visiting Goldendale Reindeer was such a wonderful reminder to never give up on your dreams and to keep building the life you want to live. 🌿

It doesn’t happen overnight, and it certainly isn’t always easy, but little by little, those dreams start becoming reality.

We’re so happy for our friends and everything they’re creating! It’s inspiring to see another local farm bringing so much joy to our community while continuing to grow and dream big.

And I think that’s something really special about small communities. We can support one another, celebrate each other’s successes, and cheer each other on as we work toward our own dreams. There’s room for all of us to grow! ❤️

Want to experience a little Christmas magic for yourself? 🎅🎄

Be sure to check out Goldendale Reindeer’s website for information about their upcoming Believe Christmas events! It’s a wonderful opportunity to visit the farm, see the live reindeer, learn about these amazing animals, and make some special holiday memories with your family!

And while you’re there, don’t forget to grab a coffee from Velvet Cup Coffee House! ☕❤️

Here’s to supporting local, celebrating each other’s successes, and never giving up on the life we’re working so hard to create!

What’s one local business or farm that inspires you? We’d love to hear about the people in our community who are doing amazing things! ❤️

Our last dahlia harvest of the season… we think!💐

With the cooler temperatures settling in here at Among the Trees, we headed out to gather what might be the last of our beautiful dahlias before winter arrives.

And just look at these colors! 😍 From soft peaches and creamy whites to vibrant pinks and fiery reds, these flowers have brought so much beauty to our little farm this fall!

This was actually our second season growing dahlias, and let me tell you, the deer have certainly enjoyed them! 😂🦌

Last year, the deer got to our dahlias before we ever had the chance to enjoy them. And this year? They managed to eat about half of our blooms AGAIN!

For a while, we were genuinely concerned we wouldn’t get to enjoy any flowers ourselves!

So finally being able to walk out to our garden, cut these beautiful blooms, and bring home armfuls of dahlias has been pretty exciting!

And the best part? We had enough to share with friends! 💕

One of the things we’re learning as we build this farm is that not everything has to be about selling something. Sometimes the greatest reward is being able to walk into the garden, cut a handful of flowers, and brighten someone else’s day.

There’s just something special about giving someone a bouquet of flowers you’ve grown yourself. A little unexpected happiness, straight from the garden!

And because we’re always experimenting and learning something new on the farm, we’re trying a little science experiment this winter! 🌱🔬

Instead of digging up all our dahlia tubers, we’re going to attempt to overwinter them right in our raised garden bed!

We’re planning to add compost, leaves, and straw for insulation, surround the bed with hay bales, and use a tarp to help protect the tubers from excess winter moisture.

Will it work? We have absolutely no idea! 😂 Especially with our cold winters here in Goldendale, but we’re curious to see what happens!

That’s part of the adventure of building a farm from the ground up. Sometimes you have to experiment, learn what works in your little corner of the world, and be willing to try something different.

We’ll be sure to share how our little experiment turns out next spring!

For now, we’re soaking up every last bit of color before the gardens settle in for winter. 🍂💐

Have you ever successfully overwintered dahlias in the ground in a colder climate? We’d love to hear your tips and experiences!

We did it! 🪻💜 Our very first Culinary Lavender Grove is officially planted!

This afternoon, Will and I planted 50 English lavender plants on the lower part of our farm, directly across from our Little Lavender Farm Store!

Nestled between our beautiful native oak groves, this new planting is Royal Velvet with some Betty’s Blue mixed in.

We specifically chose English lavender varieties for this area because of their versatility! While English lavender is especially wonderful for culinary creations, it can also be distilled into lavender essential oil, dried for fragrant buds to use in sachets, and incorporated into so many of our other botanical products. We especially love it as fresh and dried bouquets as well!

Our goal is to eventually grow more of the ingredients we use in our products right here on our own land, and this is another exciting step toward making that happen! 🌿

And let me tell you, planting 50 lavender plants is no small task! 😂 Some areas were pretty tough to dig, but we got every single one into the ground!

One of our biggest goals with Among the Trees has always been to build a farm that works with the natural landscape rather than against it.

Instead of clearing the land and planting traditional rows, we’re creating little pockets of lavender between the native oak trees, preserving the grasses and natural beauty that make this property so special. 🌿

Right now, they’re just 50 little plants scattered throughout the clearing. But we’re already imagining what this space will look like in a few years, filled with beautiful purple blooms, buzzing pollinators, and the fragrance of lavender drifting through the oak trees. 🐝🪻

And Mother Nature even helped us out! Shortly after we finished planting and watering everyone in, the rain arrived to give our newest additions a little extra drink. 🌧️

Someday, these plants will provide lavender buds for our culinary creations, herbal teas, fragrant sachets, and other lavender-infused goodies. And as our fields continue to grow, we’re looking forward to harvesting and distilling lavender essential oil from plants we’ve grown ourselves!

It’s going to take time for these little plants to grow and establish themselves, but that’s part of the beauty of building a farm. Every season, every planting, and every little project brings us one step closer to what we’ve been dreaming of.

50 more lavender plants in the ground. One more dream taking root. 💜

And we can’t wait to share their progress with you!

What’s your favorite way to enjoy lavender? In tea, baked goods, lemonade, sachets, or something else? We’d love to hear!

One of our favorite things about being lavender farmers is the incredible community of growers we’ve become part of! 🪻💜

Yesterday, we headed to Crockett Road Lavender Farm in Milton-Freewater for the Lavender Northwest Regional Conference, hosted by our wonderful mentors, Tom and Louise!

We spent the day learning about the best English lavender varieties for culinary creations, tips and tricks for distilling lavender essential oil, the best methods for cleaning lavender buds, finding bulk wholesale accounts, and sharing experiences with fellow growers.

But what I love most about Lavender Northwest is how genuinely willing everyone is to share their knowledge, and help each farm succeed!

Farmers openly talk about what’s worked, what hasn’t, the challenges they’ve faced, and the lessons they’ve learned along the way. Everyone genuinely wants to see each other succeed, and I think that’s pretty special.

And we couldn’t be more thankful for our mentors, Tom and Louise! 💜

Lavender Northwest connected us with these two wonderful people back in 2023, long before we had our own little lavender farm here in Washington.

Over the years, they’ve welcomed us onto their farm with open arms, letting us get our hands dirty planting lavender, helping with harvests, learning how to distill essential oil, and asking what probably feels like a million questions! 😂

They’ve even let us come out and propagate lavender cuttings over the past couple of years, helping us grow our very own plants to sell and eventually fill the lavender blocks here at Among the Trees.

When I think about how much we’ve learned from them, and how many of those lessons have helped us build our own farm from the ground up, I’m just so grateful our paths crossed. They’ve shared their time, knowledge, plants, and encouragement so generously, and I don’t think they realize just how much of an impact they’ve had on our journey. If you’re ever in the Walla Walla Washington area, head to their beautiful farm and check out their gorgeous gift shop!

We’re so lucky to have Tom and Louise in our corner, and even luckier to call them our friends! 💜

Until we hopefully have enough established lavender plants next year to begin harvesting our own buds and distilling our own essential oil, we’ve been sourcing both from Crockett Road. They have some of the cleanest English lavender buds around, which are absolutely perfect for our culinary creations!

And we certainly didn’t come home empty-handed! 🪻🌱

We stocked up on more English lavender buds for our culinary creations, along with hopefully enough French and English lavender essential oil to get us through winter!

And, of course, we couldn’t leave without bringing home more lavender plants!

Tomorrow, we’re getting them into the ground to begin establishing our lower lavender pods across from our Little Lavender Farm Store, the in the open spaces between the oak groves!

Our little lavender babies that we’ve been propagating aren’t quite strong enough to go directly into the ground yet, so they’ll continue growing and getting stronger until they’re ready to be planted next spring. In the meantime, these more established plants will give us a head start on expanding our lavender fields before winter settles in.

It’s so exciting to see another piece of our vision for the farm coming together. Little by little, we’re getting there! 💜

A huge thank you to Tom and Louise for opening their farm and sharing so much with us over the years, and to Lavender Northwest for creating a community where farmers genuinely want to help one another succeed.

When we started this journey in 2023, we had no idea just how much we’d learn or how many wonderful people we’d meet along the way. Now we’re getting ready to plant another section of our very own lavender farm. 🪻

Have you ever had someone take you under their wing and help you learn something completely new? We’d love to hear about the people who’ve made a difference in your journey, too!

I still can’t believe what happened last night! 😭💜

Last night, I attended The Goldy’s, the Greater Goldendale Area Chamber of Commerce annual awards banquet, and had absolutely no idea what was coming.

When they announced the Presidential Award and called our name, I was completely caught off guard! I honestly don’t think I even processed what was happening at first. What an incredible surprise! 🥹

Will wasn’t able to attend because he was busy broadcasting the Goldendale High School football game. I wish he could have been there to share that moment, because everything we’ve built has been a team effort.

Just over a year ago, we were moving onto our property with so many dreams for what Among the Trees could become. Since then, we’ve been building, planting, creating, learning, and slowly turning those dreams into reality. Never did I imagine I’d be standing at The Goldy’s accepting an award for leadership and helping our community grow!

We’ve poured so much of ourselves into Among the Trees Botanical Lavender Farm and McLaughlin Events. To have the work we’ve poured our hearts into recognized by the place we now call home is something I’ll never forget.

A heartfelt thank you to the Goldendale Chamber of Commerce and its board president for this unexpected honor. And to everyone who has supported our little farm and events business, THANK YOU! Whether you’ve purchased our products, visited the farm, attended an event, shared our posts, or simply cheered us on, we’re grateful for every bit of encouragement along the way.

We love sharing our little piece of heaven with locals and visitors alike. If you haven’t made it out to Among the Trees yet, we’d love to welcome you for a farm tour! Come meet the animals, wander through the gardens, and see what we’ve been working on. 🌿🦙🪻

Something mentioned a few times throughout the evening really stuck with me: When we work together, support one another, and promote each other’s businesses, we build the kind of community we all want to live in.

Last night was such a wonderful reminder of the impact a Chamber of Commerce can have when it truly champions its members. When local businesses are supported, promoted, celebrated, and given opportunities to grow, the entire community benefits. That’s what makes a Chamber such an important part of a thriving community, and we’re grateful to experience that here in Goldendale.

We were also excited to be the Photo Booth Sponsors through McLaughlin Events! 📸 The Goldendale Chamber did an absolutely wonderful job with this year’s Goldy’s! The 80s-themed decor was fantastic, the food was delicious, and the fun drinks, karaoke, throwback candy, and nostalgic games made for such a memorable evening. 🎉

One little reminder: We won’t be at market today! We’re heading to Milton-Freewater for a lavender conference at our mentors’ farm, Crockett Road Lavender Farm! 🪻 We’re so excited to connect with fellow lavender farmers, exchange ideas, and continue learning from this wonderful group of growers. There’s always something new to discover, and we can’t wait to bring that knowledge back to Among the Trees!

I’m still taking in everything from last night, but one thing is certain: it’s a moment I’ll remember for a very long time.

And stay tuned… we’re just getting started! 💜

Breakfast time with the boys! 🦙🌾

I swear, watching our llamas eat could be its own form of entertainment. 😂 Between their personalities, the way they munch away, and Will’s commentary in the background, there’s never a dull moment around here!

These two have become such a fun part of life at Among the Trees. I love getting to watch them settle into their routines, interact with us, and just be llamas.

Sometimes we find ourselves stopping whatever we’re working on just to stand there and watch them. And honestly, I think that’s one of my favorite things about living on the farm. 💜

Turn your sound on for a little commentary from Mr. Lavender himself!

I’m curious, have you ever spent time around llamas? 🦙
