For the last 20 years, Ronnie and I have owned and operated a small electrical company. For the last 17 years, we have been working for a natural gas supplier to maintain and upgrade electrical components that make the transmission of natural gas possible. The state of Maryland has thought that there needs to be mandates as to the labor source that is used. This mandate would effectively eliminate small, and minority owned businesses. from that labor pool. JMS Electrical & Mechanical Services is a Woman Owned Small Business and recognized by the Small Business Administration. We have worked hard for 17 years to build a solid relationship with this natural gas supplier and don't think the government should dictate who is qualified to work for utility companies based solely on their labor pool being unionized. We have thousands of hours of training and tens of thousands of hours on jobs sites of experience over almost 2 decades. This mandate could affect 11 families directly by cutting off their income. Not to mention the utilities will have to pay higher prices to have work done and that will result in higher natural gas for the consumers.
Please, if you want to write to your elected officials or to learn more about how this will affect everyone, follow this link. It's a much bigger issue than just our tiny company.

It is very rare that I ask people for help, but today I am asking not only for myself but the people that I employ and their families.
Thank you!
