Every lawn grass has a height at which it should be mowed for best health and appearance. The rule of thumb is that only one third of grass plant should be removed at one mowing when properly caring for bermudagrass. When you wait too long between mowing, it becomes more difficult to manage. Also, when you wait to long between mowing it puts extra stress and wear on your equipment, and it’s hard to maintain the clippings this way. Short clippings easily fall to the ground where they decompose and add nutrients to the soil. Longer clippings tend to sit on top of the lawn in unattractive clumps. Those clippings also block sunlight to the surface grass effecting it’s growth. When properly caring for bermudagrass it should be mowed at least once a week.

Fun fact, bermudagrass came from Africa and India.
