Soil life thrives when you have a cover crop โ˜˜๏ธ๐ŸŒธ๐Ÿ’ซ

This lush clover is doing more than just looking beautiful. Cover crops help feed soil microbes, reduce erosion, suppress weeds, retain moisture, and even fix nitrogen naturally.

Before we started caring for this land, it was farmed conventionally, with bare and dead soil left between planting cycles. Now, instead of leaving the ground exposed, we keep living roots growing as much as possible to support the biology beneath the surface.

Healthy plants start with healthy soil, and healthy soil starts with keeping living roots in the ground.

Rotational Grazing in Action! ๐Ÿ“๐ŸŒฑ

One of the best things we do for our meat chickens is move them regularly through fresh pasture in our homemade chicken tractor.

If you look closely, you can see the dark green strips of grass where the chickens were previously located. Those lush patches are a result of the natural fertilizer the birds leave behind as they graze and forage.

This system helps:
โ€ข Improve soil health
โ€ข Reduce waste buildup and odors
โ€ข Encourage healthier pasture growth and healthier chickens
โ€ข Give the chickens access to fresh grass, bugs, and forage for a cleaner and happier life
โ€ข Create a more sustainable and regenerative farming system

Itโ€™s a simple system that works with nature instead of against it.

Nothing goes to waste, and every move helps build healthier soil for the future!

The BEST compost system ๐Ÿฅ๐Ÿ’ซ๐Ÿ„โ€๐ŸŸซ

Nothing goes to waste around here.
This mushroom got a little too big and overmature for us to enjoy, but that doesnโ€™t mean it went to waste. Our chickens were more than happy to help with cleanup! ๐Ÿ”

One of the things we love about raising animals is how they help close the loop on the farm.

Scraps, overgrown produce, and other things that arenโ€™t suitable for us can often be turned into valuable nutrition for the flock or our pigs. In return, the chickens provide eggs and manure for the crops!

Itโ€™s a simple example of regenerative agriculture in action. Making the most of what we have, reducing waste, and letting every part of the farm serve a purpose.

Nature doesnโ€™t waste much, and we try not to either. ๐ŸŒฑ๐Ÿ„๐Ÿ”

Bee yard update is now LIVE! ๐Ÿ๐Ÿฏ

Like many local apiaries, we weren't immune to the harsh winter and unfortunately lost our original hives to a total dead-out.

Thatโ€™s the harsh reality of farming, it's a constant learning process, BUT we aren't slowing down! We are working hard to rebuild, and this new video takes you behind the scenes as we show you exactly how we split and combine our hives to help them grow back stronger than ever.

Come see how we're rebuilding and moving forward, link below!

Out in the Bee Yard! ๐Ÿ๐Ÿฏ

We had to start over this year with all new hives after the harsh winter. Unfortunately, several of our fellow beekeepers experienced the same losses.

The good news is the bees are looking happy, healthy, and hard at work! ๐ŸŒผ๐Ÿ

Beekeeping comes with its ups and downs, but itโ€™s exciting to see the hives thriving again. We canโ€™t wait to watch them grow throughout the summer and hopefully bring in a great honey harvest! ๐Ÿฏ๐ŸŒธ
