Job Description: Woods Excavating is seeking a skilled Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and servicing our fleet of heavy-duty equipment, including excavators, bulldozers, loaders, mining equipment and dump trucks. The Heavy Duty Mechanic will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our machinery, contributing to the success of our projects.
Responsibilities:
● Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as oil changes, filter replacements, and lubricants, to ensure optimal performance of heavy-duty equipment.
● Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues in a timely manner to minimize downtime.
● Conduct inspections and assessments to identify potential problems and recommend preventive measures.
● Keep accurate records of maintenance activities, including parts inventory, equipment history, and service reports.
● Adhere to safety protocols and regulations while working in the shop or field environment.
● Maintain a clean and safe work area
● Report to and complete tasks assigned by shop supervisor
● Attention to detail is a must
Qualifications:.
● Minimum of 2 years experience with automotive / diesel repair / or related training (preferably heavy trucks or equipment)
● Welding experience, or willing to learn some basic skills
● Experience diagnosing and troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
● Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
● Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
● Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
● Valid driver's license with a clean driving record. (CDL class A or B without automatic restriction a plus)
● Maine state inspection license a plus
● Be able to safely operate heavy equipment and trucks
● Be able to lift 50lb frequently and 100lb occasionally
