Distinguished Community Member Award Recipient -
Lucile Walker Burkett (12/8/1912 - 7/16/1984) - GHS Class of 1930
Lucile graduated from Graham High School in 1930 and from the University of Texas in 1934. She worked as a “Rosie the Riveter" in San Diego California during World War II.
On December 25, 1939, she married Zack Thomason Burkett, Jr, and was an integral part in forming Zack Burkett Company. Mrs. Burkett served on the Graham ISD school board from 1954 to 1972. During her time as a board member, she read every new book that was considered for adoption into the district's curriculum regardless of the grade level. Lucille was a staunch supporter of education and Graham ISD.
Lucile was a proud mother of two sons - Zack Thomason Burkett, III and James Clark Burkett, and two daughters - Carol Billings and Mildred Sue Cocke, both deceased. Her legacy lives on through her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Zack Burkett Co is honored to boast Lucile Burkett as one of the foundations of our company. May we all strive to live up to her example of selfless service to our community.

One of our newest Zack Burkett employees, Robert Sadler, had an early morning house fire. Unfortunately, Robert and his family lost everything they owned except the clothes on their back. Robert and Michelle, Robert's wife, did not have insurance on the home because the property was recently acquired after his father passed. A GoFundMe has been created to help Robert and his family with their needed essentials. We ask for you to help the Sadler family where you can.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Robert and Michelle.
