Fire pit season isn't over yet - it's just getting good. π₯
Before you dig in, the base matters as much as the ring. A solid aggregate base keeps your fire pit level, improves drainage so it doesn't turn into a mud pit after rain, and helps prevent heat damage to the ground underneath.
For DIY fire pits, we recommend:
πͺ¨ Road Gravel - budget-friendly base layer, compacts well
πͺ¨ 22A Dolomite - a step up, tighter compaction, great for a stable sub-base
πͺ¨ 3/8" Pea Stone - a clean, decorative top layer inside the ring itself (helps with drainage and looks sharp)
Pick up what you need or have it delivered right to the yard - either way, you'll be ready for cool nights around the fire.
