The cherry trunk is finally done!

We took furniture that was handed down to the client from her grandmother, salvaged what we could, and replaced what we couldn't. The lid and bottom panel were new as well as the hardware. Other than that, the rest was salvaged from the pieces we were able to save.

On to the next project!

How it started vs how it's going. This is a 5" to 4", 45-degree reducing adapter for the planer with a slight downward offset to help evacuate chips. The original one has a very sharp shoulder that was causing turbulence and a place for chips to get caught, not allowing them to be sucked up by the dust collector. This new one should flow a lot easier, smoother, and ultimately be a bit quieter and a lot more effective.

Not all woodworking is wood. These dust collector ends will be available after a little tweaking. If you're going to do something, do it right. That's why we aren't rushing.

Ever closer. The majority of the cherry was from reclaimed furniture, handed down from the client's grandmother. Unfortunately there was not enough usable wood to make the lid and bottom panels, so those are from "new" cherry and will eventually darken over time to match the sides. Finished with boiled linseed oil, this will all settle to a deep, natural red and still show the full character of the wood grain.

Cherry chest almost done. I can't wait to get it wrapped up and move on to the next project.

I have known Josh for longer than I can remember. I remember talking to him about Station No.6 Food Truck while it was still in the planning stages. I remember hearing the problems with getting it off the ground, the problems with the truck and equipment stay on the road, and the other problems that all small business owners have.

Then I remember the wins. I remember seeing the first sell-out on the truck. I remember seeing the stability and confidence climb, I remember seeing the first employee join the team.

I remember seeing the teaser video of Josh taking over the kitchen at the Rosetown American Legion Post 542.

To say the story has been inspirational is an understatement to say the least. I know seeing Josh do what he has done is nothing short of amazing and I know he will continue to go further without a doubt, especially with burgers like these! I just wish I lived closer so I could try them.

I don't know how I worked so long without an outfeed table, but those days are over. This will be so much nicer than needing to set up saw horses every time.
