POP OF COLOR!

The foyer was one of the first places we started.

When you walked in, it was very much that gray-on-gray-on-gray feeling. Nothing wrong with it, but it just felt a little flat.

We started conceptually with color here, pulling in deeper blues and greens with just a bit of contrast, and then built everything out from there.

She fell in love with this Schumacher wallpaper right away, and it really set the tone. We carried it up the stairs and into the hall so you can catch it from different parts of the house, but because it’s more of a pass-through space, it never feels overwhelming.

We also commissioned a piece by Kelly Allen for the stairs, which adds a bit of contrast to the more traditional architecture. It’s one of those moments that just gives the space a little energy.

From there, it was layering rugs, antiques, artwork, just building it out so it felt a bit more personal.

Deidre’s Finds | Rattan Armchair

This one has such a strong point of view.

A mid-century armchair with a bold, sculptural frame, painted in this deep red that really sets it apart. The rattan back adds warmth and texture, while the black leather cushions keep it grounded and sharp.

I love the mix of materials here: wood, rattan, leather, and those subtle chrome rivet details. It’s layered, but still feels very intentional.

The high back and angular arms give it that confident, modernist silhouette. It’s the kind of chair that doesn’t get lost in a room.

Perfect as a statement piece, in a corner, at a desk, or even as an accent in a living space.

Small Spaces = an opportunity to WOW!
The powder room sits right off the foyer, so it really couldn’t be an afterthought.

It also gets a lot of use. The kids are in and out of the pool all summer, so one of the first things we talked about was making sure it could actually hold up.

The original space was very typical, pedestal sink, gray walls, nothing particularly special.

So we started with the materials.

Deidre’s Finds | Two Mid-Century Gold Velvet Chairs

These are such a good pair.

I sourced these French mid-century arm and slipper chairs in the most beautiful gold velvet, it’s that perfect warm amber tone.

I love the mix here, one armchair, one slipper chair, so they feel collected rather than too matchy. And that fringe base… it’s just the right amount of drama.

There is a bit of natural crushing to the velvet starting to show, but honestly, I think that just adds to the character. They feel lived-in in the best way.

Perfect as a pair in a living room, or even split up to bring a little warmth into different corners of a home.

Sold as a set of two.

The modern take on a slipper chair!

We had already started building the palette, and I kept coming back to this blue. It has just enough depth to stand on its own, but it still works with everything else that’s happening.

I’m always looking for that balance, where something can feel a little unexpected but still connected.

It’s a smaller piece, but it really helps finish the space.

ART, from an unusual source!
Art is always a big part of how I think about a space.

I absolutely love helping clients source artwork, whether that’s through artists I’m connected with, galleries, or something a little more unexpected.

For this project, we sourced a number of pieces locally, but this one came from a trip I took to France a few years ago.

I had picked up a few antique fabric books, not really knowing exactly what I would do with them, just knowing I loved them.

When we started pulling together the primary and thinking about the room's color and pattern, I went back to those books.

We ended up using a few of the pages as artwork and had them framed, and they just fit right in with everything else we were layering into the space.

Deidre’s Finds
I sourced this Art Deco cabinet in France, and it’s one of those pieces that just stops you in your tracks. It dates to the 1940s, so you get those clean lines and subtle geometric details that feel timeless, not fussy.

The wood grain is gorgeous in person, really rich, and I love the contrast with the chrome hardware. It gives it just the right amount of edge.

I can see this working in so many ways, as a bar, in an entry, or as a statement piece in a living space. It’s functional, but it also has a presence that doesn’t need much around it to shine.

Welcome to our 1920s Georgian!
I’m starting to share a new project, and I thought I’d begin with the primary bedroom.

This is a 1920s Georgian, and when the client came to me, they had been living here for a couple of years, but a lot of the furniture was from previous moves, and it just felt a bit muddled together.

The client didn’t want to feel overwhelmed, so we decided to work in phases. They picked a few spaces to start with. The foyer, the powder room, and the primary bedroom.

So, Let's start in the primary!

Bringing this room together was really a process of layering.

We started with the feeling they kept coming back to, something softer, more like a warm hug, and then built from there.

The wallpaper really set the tone, and everything else started to fall into place around it. The bed, the mix of textiles, the antiques- it’s all a bit collected.

I like when a room doesn’t feel too matched, just connected in a quieter way.
