Today, we unveiled "Convergence" at Montcalm Community College.
The sculpture was gifted to MCC during their Welcome Week and one we were proud to help bring to life alongside our project partners, Progressive Companies and Mathison I Mathison Architects.
A sculpture wasn't on the punch list. But we're grateful for the partnerships that made this project what it is, and we felt like it needed a physical representation of what we and the project partners felt. Art gives a community something to gather around, point to, and pass down. It turns a place people study into a place people belong.
Created by Suzanne Knecht of Zan Knecht Sculptures, "Convergence" represents where people, opportunity, and community come together which all shape the students' journey at Montcalm Community College. It's a fitting message for a project that took so many people working together to make happen.
MCC President Bradley Barrick and Taylor Logan welcomed us onto campus. Matthew Schulte of Mathison Mathison Architects spoke to the intentionality behind the design and its tie to MCC's student housing project. And our own Brent Gibson shared the vision behind the gift.
Special thanks to all that were a part of making this happen today!
