June is National Safety Month! 💙

A safe home is one of the most important factors in maintaining independence and peace of mind. This month, we’re encouraging seniors and their families to take a few moments to review home safety and make sure everything is working as it should.

If you have a stairlift, vertical platform lift (VPL), lift chair, or other accessibility equipment installed by ADL Customs, now is a great time to schedule your annual service appointment. Regular maintenance helps ensure your equipment continues to operate safely and reliably when you need it most.

A free information session is being held tomorrow at the Village Hall on the MSHDA CDBG Grant program for Home Renovations for those who qualify. Check out the graphics that the Village of Edwardsburg have shared to see how to qualify and what kind of repairs are eligible. Some of the repairs could even include accessibility modifications!

💡 Cost:
• Target areas: $50
• Outside target areas: $250

Selected neighborhoods receive reduced pricing based on need.

The Lamppost Lighting Program assists homeowners with lighting enhancements in their neighborhoods. The program offers easy self-install, solar-powered lampposts for residential front yards.

The City selected four target areas for 2026 based on income, number of vacant lots and a need for lighting in the neighborhood. Homeowners in the target areas will pay a lower share of the total cost:

- Homeowners within target areas: $50
- Homeowners outside target areas: $250

The application deadline is Friday, June 5. More information about the program and target areas can be found at southbendin.gov/lamppost.
