My friends,
this is our recent bespoke banquette bench project beginning to settle beautifully into the space.
This created a quiet architectural moment designed for slow mornings, long conversations, and lingering cups of strong coffee.
Once the custom cushions are added, it’ll be ready to host marvelous breakfast gatherings bathed in the soft morning light.

We opened the wall and framed the view with a bespoke set of french doors leading directly to the new deck + pergola we built.
It creates a seamless connection outdoors while flooding the interior with warm natural + delicious light.

a dreamy glimpse of our bespoke solid sassafras deck project.
Facts about Sassafras:

* Native hardwood found primarily in the eastern United States
* Known for its warm honey, amber, and olive-toned color variation
* Naturally aromatic - freshly milled sassafras has a distinctive spicy, earthy scent
* Lightweight compared to many hardwoods, but still durable for exterior applications
* Naturally rot-resistant thanks to the oils in the wood
* Grain tends to be soft, flowing, and organic, giving it a more relaxed character than teak or ipe
* Ages beautifully outdoors, developing a silvery patina over time if left unfinished
* Historically used for boatbuilding, fence posts, furniture, and handcrafted cabinetry
* Each board tends to have unique movement and coloration, making projects feel highly bespoke
* Often appreciated in Japandi, organic modern, and mid-century inspired design because of its warmth and understated texture

My fellow Earthlings.
We just wrapped up a seriously fun basement remodel.
This project included framing in a new office space, and small powder room with s toilet + vanity.
We also added 14’ custom ash hardwood bar top with built-in storage under.
We updated the entire space with new lighting, flooring, and trim, and reworked the layout to create a lounge area for movies + another space with a future playroom in mind.
To finish it off, we installed a matte black drop ceiling and retrofitted an antique family heirloom door into a custom sliding feature, one of those details that really makes the space personal.
We are happy about how this one came together.

My friends.
this is one of two handcrafted solid walnut benches i was commissioned to build.
Featuring a continuous, richly figured top with flowing grain patterns and warm tonal variation. Supported by sculptural, angled trestle legs and a low stretcher, the piece balances strength with elegance. The hand-finished surface enhances the natural depth and chatoyance of the wood, creating a timeless, architectural presence.

My friends…
This desk was recently built as part of a complete office transformation: solid cherry, quietly grounded with walnut accents, and shaped into a contemporary minimalist form.
Its spirit draws from mid-century executive offices—an era when desks were not just furniture, but stages where ideas were argued, letters were written, and decisions that shaped lives were made.
Cherry carries a deeper poetry as well. In Japanese thought there is the idea of Mono no Aware—the gentle, bittersweet awareness that everything is fleeting. The bloom fades, the seasons turn, the moment passes.
Perhaps that’s the perfect mindset for a desk like this: a place to sit with the temporary nature of things… and get to work solving a few of the universe’s mysteries before the day slips away.

this is a floating bespoke black walnut bedside table with a wicked useful drawer. You can put your phone in it at night, and put your hair ties in it so your curious cat doesn’t knock them off in the middle of the night, and many other useful things as well.
This is part of an entire bedroom transformation project.
