4 million lbs of counterweight, one historic BNSF movable bridge and a crew built for the job.

Our team is giving this bridge a modern upgrade with low-impact foundations, custom strand jack lifting systems and a carefully phased plan coordinated with rail operations, marine traffic and the surrounding community.

Collaboration across the Southland Holdings family of companies brings together specialized expertise to deliver complex infrastructure projects.

At the US 41 NE Reservoir Pump Station & Transmission Main in Cape Coral, Florida, American Bridge Company (AB) and Oscar Renda Contracting (ORC) are combining their capabilities to bring this critical infrastructure project to life.

Serving as the project's general contractor, ORC leads construction of the pump station's concrete structure, while AB, as a subcontractor to ORC, is providing the design and installation of the coffer cell necessary to support construction activities.

This partnership highlights the strength of our family of companies and the value of leveraging our collective expertise. By working together, we're able to tackle complex construction challenges, deliver innovative solutions and build the infrastructure communities depend on.

Johnson Bros. Corporation, a Southland Company, has been recognized with two ENR Southeast Best Projects awards in the Highway/Bridge category.

- Best Project: SR 5 (US 1) and SR 811 (Alt A1A) Jupiter Federal Bridge Replacement, Jupiter, FL

- Award of Merit: Kirkman Road Extension, Orlando, FL

Both projects called for careful planning, strong coordination and steady ex*****on in busy, high-visibility corridors, and our teams rose to the challenge every step of the way. Being recognized by ENR is a reflection of that effort and of the communities these projects now serve.

This week's comes from the Leadville Mine Drainage Tunnel Water Treatment Plant project in Leadville, Colorado, where our crews are working hard to build a brand new water treatment facility right next to the existing plant.

The goal is to keep the current plant running without interruption while its replacement takes shape just steps away.
Working beside a live facility takes careful planning, tight coordination and a crew that treats the existing plant as part of the job site.

It's another great example of the dedication, teamwork and problem-solving expertise our crews bring to every project, ensuring we deliver quality work while keeping critical infrastructure operating safely and efficiently.

Our American Bridge team earned a Silver Caltrans Excellence in Partnering Award for the San Francisco Oakland Bay Bridge Cable Investigation.

Working overnight on the West Span, the team carried out an in-depth inspection of the main cables and suspender ropes. It was the first investigation of its kind since the bridge opened in 1936. The project was delivered safely, under budget and without a single claim, which shows what open communication and true partnership can do.

Congratulations to Project Manager Wade Barie and the entire team, and thank you to our partners at Caltrans District 4 and the Bay Area Toll Authority.

This week's comes from the Nelson Road Project in Lake Charles, LA.

Crews have begun paving on the north side of the project and are making steady progress across the site. Work is underway to install two of the three dolphins and roughly 40 percent of the deck has been poured.

This comes from the new Shands Bridge on the St. Johns River in Florida. Girders are going up and the bridge is really starting to take shape!

Substructure work is progressing seamlessly. Now the Johnson Bros. Corporation and American Bridge Company JV team has moved full steam into superstructure by setting girders span by span across the river. Every girder placed brings this massive 6.5-mile FDOT centerpiece for the SR 23 Beltway one step closer to completion.

When finished, the new Shands Bridge will feature 73 total spans and a 65' vertical clearance. It will also offer future six lane expansion capability and a dedicated pedestrian Shared Use Path. Public fishing piers will be created from the repurposed ends of the old bridge.
