“Thank you for calling myLawn! Turf & Tree, this is Toby. How can I assist you?”

For the last couple of years, those words were often the first voice many of our clients heard when they reached out to our office. Toby had a gift for making people feel welcomed, heard, and cared for. He served our clients well, not because it was simply part of his job, but because caring for people was truly part of who he was.

But Toby was so much more than the voice on the other end of the phone.

He was a father, a brother, a friend, and someone deeply loved by his family and those closest to him. He was loved deeply by those who knew him, and even a short conversation with him was often enough to understand why.

We wanted to take a moment to pause and express our deep gratitude for the outpouring of love, kindness, and support we have received from our family, our friends, the community, and our clients following the recent passing of Toby Elliott.

Toby was not only our brother, but also a cherished team member and friend. Several of our family members had the privilege of working alongside him here, and this past week and a half has been incredibly difficult. Even so, the care, prayers, messages, and love we have received have helped lighten a burden that has felt almost impossible to carry.

Please continue to keep his children, his family, his loved ones, and his friends in your thoughts and prayers as we all learn how to navigate this world without him.

We would also like to acknowledge the effort, understanding, and compassion each of our team members has poured into their work during this difficult time. Even while grieving themselves, they have continued to support one another, support our family, and do an outstanding job caring for the needs of our clients. We are truly blessed to have the team we have.

We also ask that you extend as much grace as possible to our office and our team in the days ahead. Toby’s absence is deeply felt, and we are still learning how to absorb the incredible impact of losing him.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for loving Toby and for loving all of us so well through this difficult time. If you have a story, memory, or kind word about Toby, we would be grateful for you to share it below or you can message us privately as well.

Little barley is thriving to say the least! If you have this problematic w**d in your lawn, this video may help you understand it, as well as how you can prevent it and control it in the future!

As always, there is no better w**d control than a thick, healthy, dense turf. This couldn’t be more true with little barley. If you have an infestation of this, it is a great indication that you may need to re-seed some areas and improve overall turf health!

Let us know if you have any questions at all!

Mosquitoes can make it hard to enjoy your own backyard, especially when they are heavy around patios, pools, play areas, shaded landscapes, and irrigated lawns.

To combat this, we offer three mosquito protection options so we can recommend the best fit for your property, your budget, and the level of control you are looking for.

Mosquito Defense
Our traditional mosquito application program. This is a great option for properties with mature trees, shrubs, shaded areas, landscape beds, downspouts, soffits, and other common mosquito resting areas.

Mosquito Defense Plus
Our strongest mosquito protection option. This combines our traditional applications with professionally placed mosquito bait stations that are maintained through the season. The applications help reduce adult mosquitoes in and surrounding your property, while the stations help reduce breeding pressure between visits.

Bait Stations Only
A good option for clients who prefer to do their own spraying but still want professional help reducing mosquito breeding pressure around the property.

The right choice depends on your property. Irrigation, shade, nearby water, neighboring properties, mature trees, and how your family uses the yard can all affect which plan makes the most sense.

No mosquito program can eliminate every mosquito, but the right program can make a big difference in how comfortable your outdoor space feels.

If you are not sure which plan is right for you? We can review your property and help recommend the most sensible option.

It is the time of year to start paying attention to the color of our leaves! Also, we must understand that chlorosis is more than just a yellow leaf problem.

These pictures are a great example of what chronic chlorosis can look like when a tree has been struggling for repetitive years. Notice how thin the canopy is on the left side of the tree as well as how small some of the leaves are. Thinning and smaller leaves is a sign that the tree is not just looking off color. It is actively declining.

Chlorosis is very common in trees like Autumn Blaze maples, silver maples, red maples, bald cypress, ornamental pear trees, pin oaks, northern red oaks, Shumard oaks, river birch, and sweetgum trees.

While chlorosis is often connected to micronutrient issues, it is not always as simple as saying the tree just needs iron. Soil pH, soil health, nutrient availability, improper planting, root stress, moisture conditions, planting location, and tree species all play a role. In many cases, the real issue is that the tree may not have been the best species for that site in the first place.

But if you already have an established tree that is showing yellowing leaves, thinning canopy, or repeated chlorosis year after year, it is absolutely worth having it looked at. Ignoring it usually does not make it better. Over time, chronic chlorosis can weaken the tree, reduce canopy density, and lead to continued decline.

At myLawn! Turf & Tree, our arborists can evaluate what is going on and recommend a treatment plan to help bring your tree back to healthier vigor.

If your tree has been struggling with chlorosis, please reach out to us today.

Huge shout out to Chad, Javier, & Brock for an incredible job planting this beautiful red maple! If you look at the original picture prior to preparation, you can see how much soil had to be removed to expose the buttress roots!

The more time you take to prepare the root ball, digging a proper hole, staking and mulching the tree, the more time you will have enjoying your tree!

Improper planting and failing to expose the root flare (buttress roots) is one of the most common reason trees never reach their potential! If you have a tree that’s only half the size you expected it to be, chances are high it was planted improperly.

As for this tree, as long as it gets watered properly, she’s going to be around for decades!!!

Great job fellas!!!
