Man, it’s been a busy few weeks for American Dirt Works.
We’ve been slammed with utility digging for several local companies lately. Haven’t had much time to grab photos, but here’s a few from some recent jobs.
This past Monday evening was one of those calls that reminds you why experience matters. We got an emergency call at 7:30 PM for a water line break—and worked straight through until 1 AM to get it patched and their water back on.
The crazy part?
It was only a 3-year-old home.
Unfortunately, the line failed because it was dug and installed improperly from the start. That’s the stuff that costs homeowners big down the road—and it’s exactly why we take the time to do it right the first time.

Got a call this morning at 6:52 AM.
Customer says, “I’ve got a problem.”
I said, “We can help—what’s going on?”
Months ago their basement flooded due to clogged drains. They had it snaked—clog gone—but drainage stayed extremely slow after rain and snow melt. Then last weekend’s rain hit… and water backed up into the garage.
They had the line scoped.
Turns out the 4-inch pipe was partially crushed—barely open.
Customer tells me:
“I just put $25,000 into finishing my basement. I need this fixed NOW.”
I said, “We’ll be there by 10:30.”
Storm coming. No time to mess around.
Job scope:
Cut 17 ft x 45 inches of concrete driveway
Demo & haul-off
Set new base
Install drainage
Run 180 ft of new pipe
Is it pretty right now?
No.
Will it save this customer tens of thousands in basement repairs?
Absolutely.

We recently put in some serious work on this parking lot!

This lot had multiple potholes and erosion problems caused by poor water flow. Our team tilled the surface, blending the gravel with limestone dust to create a smooth, stable base. We then cut in several swales to direct water and prevent standing water issues.

Once the grading was right, we compacted the lot to resist future potholes and brought in 60 tons of gravel—laid about 2 inches thick—and raked it out for a clean, even finish. A little bit of hand raking remains, and this project will be wrapped up!

We had a productive weekend on this project. Our team completed the demolition of a small barn, including the full removal of its contents and concrete foundation. We then regraded the surrounding area to prepare for the installation of a gravel pad, creating a stable base for a new conex box. Additionally, we cleared and reshaped an overgrown driveway, removing excess soil, repairing potholes, and eliminating unwanted swales to ensure proper drainage and a smooth, well-defined driving surface.
