I am a huge fan of the Master NC State Extension Master Gardener Volunteers program. So much so, that I have volunteered for over 25 years! I can attest to the therapeutic benefits of gardening too 🌺

🎋 Gardening can be a wonderfully effective way to improve our physical, emotional and mental well-being.

In 2024, NC State Extension Master Gardener℠ volunteers dedicated 3,605 hours to helping 9,857 North Carolinians discover the healing power of plants.

That’s almost 10,000 people across our state who learned about the benefits of therapeutic horticulture last year alone!

So excited to be working with a group of energetic residents Lakes at Litchfield as the Monarch Garden gets established. The community is so supportive with donations and their time. I donated the design and helped with labeling today. There were 10 caterpillars on the milkweed today and 6 monarchs have already emerged from their pupae!

I’m excited and honored to have been selected by esteemed artist and juror to be into the South Carolina Watermedia Society’s 48th Annual National Exhibition with my painting ‘First In Line’. ‘First in Line’ was created after watching pelicans line up for fish scraps at the end of the day at the fish market on the Intracoastal Waterway. They seemed very polite as they waited in line! I loved the shapes and angles formed by their beaks. And I especially liked showing the birds peaking through from the back of the line!

It is with great pleasure that I announce the garden at 402 Aberdeen Terrace will be featured on the Greensboro Council of Garden Clubs Tour this weekend. This beautiful garden is located at 402 Aberdeen Terrace, The homeowners were a pleasure to collaborate with, and Tom Diachenko did an outstanding job installing both the front yard and the back yard. All six gardens will remain open for viewing tomorrow.
