Pete Wall is of the oldest Independent plumbing companies in the entire Greensboro, NC area. The company was established in 1958 and has been in its present location since 1960. Not only does Mr. Pete Wall still show up to work every day, usually at 6am, some of the company’s other employees have also been with the outfit since inception.
“Life’s been good,” states Mr. Wall. “We have great office help and other people who were trained here and have stayed.” Not only do his employees want to stay, But Pete Wall Plumbing also has customers that stay. “We still work with some of the same companies and families as when we started in 1958. The only difference is that now we deal with their children or sometimes their grandchildren,” states Mr. Wall. This sounds amazing unless you work Mr. Wall, who employs both his son and grandson. Pete Walls’ son and grandson has been with the company his entire working life and assist his father in the day to day running of the company.
Mr. Wall was in the Navy during World War Two. One day while bored upon his ship, Mr. Wall observed a naval plumber applying his trade and said, “I think I might enjoy doing that”. He followed his shipmate around to learn the basics and has been at it ever since.
Pete Wall states the secret of his success has always been the loyal people he has been blessed to be surrounded by. In addition to his long time employees, he feels blessed by his family. Mr. Wall has been married to his wife “Snook” for 55 years. They have two children, Jimmy and Betty Joe.
The focus of Pete Wall Plumbing is roughly split between about 70% residential and 30% commercial. While they mainly do residential new construction, the company also works sites that include churches, restaurants, and small shopping centers.
