If you are a business owner, take heed to the following information:
It is unfortunate, but scam emails are ever on the rise. You must be ever vigilant, checking the sources of any email you receive that is suspicious.
As a business owner, you will have contact, not only with clients, but, with vendors, attorneys, and others associated with your business.
You will often get correspondence from people trying to scam you out of your money. They are very cunning in how emails (especially) are sent.
Things to look for:
Initial official correspondence from Lawyers/attorneys is going to be received via hard copy, e.g., letters, documents. Most states require this method.
Vetting emails:
Look at the "from" field on an email. All major companies email is sent to and from an official site. My business email is [email protected]. If it does not show that email in the "from" field, it is not from me. It is the same with UPS, FedEx, Verizon, Google, Ebay, Amazon, etc.
If an email says it is from FedEx, but the actual email address looks like a long list of letters and numbers, it is going to be a scam.
