This is a before-and-after of a DuraCraft job our guys just finished.

Same concrete. Completely different surface. We left what was already there and transformed it instead of tearing it out.

Do not put salt on your driveway.

We get calls all the time from people who threw salt down when it snowed or iced over because they wanted it gone fast. What happens is that salt attacks the top of the concrete. It starts to scale, spall, and crack.

Then we get the call: “Can you fix this?”

Yes. We can. But it’s not the cheap fix. Your real options at that point are a DuraCraft overlay or a full replacement.

Some people get away with salt for years. Some people do it once and it tears the driveway up. You don’t know which one you are until it’s already damaged.

With a cold, snowy, icy winter on the way, just skip the salt. It’ll cost you a lot more later.

We’re on a stamped driveway in Charlotte — one of those roundabout layouts — and you can see the problem. It’s cracked, it’s sinking, and it’s starting to look worn out.

We’re putting options together for this homeowner. Foam work to lift and stabilize the settled areas. Redo the color so the stamp actually looks like something again. And a full replacement price if they’d rather start over.

This homeowner is moving in about a year. He doesn’t want to spend a fortune, and he doesn’t want surprises on inspection. He just needs the bad sections of the driveway fixed.

That’s our specialty. We don’t force one solution on everybody.
