I was lucky enough to work on this beautiful church this afternoon - St. James Episcopal in Titusville. The patterns of unfading Vermont green, purple and red really work as a contrast to the sandstone. In 1874, folks knew how to build things. The red cross is over the sacristy, and is an incredible design feature.

Happy Friday! For anyone who knows anything about slate, you find it interesting to know that the slate on this roof are already about 100 years old, and they have another 75-100 of life left in them! They were most likely salvaged from an old barn and measure 14" × 26". Some were 28" long, and we used those for the starter course. I've never worked with slate that big - with the largest standard size usually being 14 × 24. Four days of work, and a roof that'll last 100 years!
