At MetroConnects, we take Sanitary Sewer Overflows (SSOs) seriously. Our team recently participated in an all-team SSO training to strengthen our preparedness and learn more about the many factors that can contribute to an SSO.

While responding quickly and effectively is critical, our focus is also on prevention. Through proactive and preventative maintenance, we work to identify and address potential issues before they become problems.

We’re committed to protecting public health, our community, and our environment—and that starts with a team that’s prepared, informed, and focused on prevention.

We’re proud to be featured in a new Esri case study highlighting how MetroConnects uses innovative technology to modernize permitting and keep pace with the rapid growth of our community.

By integrating ArcGIS with our Trimble Inc. asset management and permitting systems, we’ve streamlined workflows, increased efficiency, improved field operations, and made it easier for developers and customers to submit and track permits online.

As our service area continues to grow, these tools help our team work smarter, respond faster, and plan for the future.

When you're left with oil after frying an egg or need to throw out that expired salad dressing, where do you pour it out?

Many people dispose of food scraps and fats, oils, and grease (FOGs) down their sinks without a second thought. When FOGs enter your pipes they solidify and harden, leading to eventual blockages and sewer overflows.

To stop clogs before they start, use the three step method: Can It, Cool It, Trash It.

🥫Can It: Pour any fats, oils, and grease into an empty can.
⏱️Cool It: Allow FOGs to cool down and solidify.
🗑️Trash It: Throw the full can into the trash.

Think before you put FOGs down the sink! You can help us keep our pipes clear and protect the wastewater system by disposing of FOGs properly.

Up and away they go! Several members of our team recently earned their sUAS Remote Pilot licenses, so we took them out for some flight practice!

Our wonderful instructors, Taylor Glass and Jennifer Franz, showed the team how to prepare for a flight, taught them the basics of drone controls, and brought learning tools to help our team practice locating and identifying specific points on the ground.

We’re so proud of our team for their commitment to learning new skills and finding new ways to support the work we do!
