🐾 NEW PROGRAM FROM FILO SAR— FAMILY TRACKING 🐾
At First In Last Out (FILO) Search & Rescue, we are a K-9-focused nonprofit organization dedicated to helping locate missing and vulnerable individuals through trained canines, specialized search resources, and community support.
We are exploring a new program designed specifically for families who want to unlock their own dog’s natural scenting abilities and learn basic family tracking skills.
Imagine having a dog that has been trained to recognize a loved one’s scent and work alongside you in controlled tracking exercises. While this training does not replace professional Search & Rescue resources or guarantee a dog can locate a missing person, it can provide families with valuable skills, confidence, and emergency preparedness.
Think about this scenario, because its all to common all over the news any more!
“Your Out camping with the family and you turn around and your son/daughter is gone. Unfamiliar territory, your yells echo and the thoughts begin to race. Wouldn’t it be amazing to be able to give your dog a command that could possibly bring your child back before precious time is wasted and they wonder to far away”
This program may be especially beneficial for families with:
🐾 Elderly loved ones with dementia or Alzheimer’s
🐾 Autistic children or adults who may wander
🐾 Children with a history or risk of wandering
🐾 Individuals with special needs
🐾 Families who enjoy outdoor activities and preparedness
🐾 Anyone interested in developing their dog’s natural scenting abilities
TRAINING STRUCTURE & PRICING
🐕 Initial K-9 Evaluation — $50
We evaluate your dog’s drive, confidence, temperament, focus, motivation, and suitability for scent and tracking development.
🐕 Foundation Training — $65 per session
Introduction to scent work, drive, basic tracking concepts, and handler communication.
🐕 Progressive Tracking — $85 per session
Developing longer trails, turns, terrain changes, and working as a handler/dog team.
🐕 Advanced Family Tracking — $100 per session
More challenging scenarios, increased distractions, varied environments, and advanced skill development.
Every dog is different. We do not believe in charging families thousands of dollars for a predetermined package when some dogs may progress quickly while others need additional foundation work. Training will be based on the individual dog’s abilities and progression.
Our goal is simple: help families better understand their dogs, develop their natural abilities, and build stronger preparedness for the people they love.
🐾 WE WANT TO KNOW — WOULD YOU BE INTERESTED?
We are currently gauging community interest before officially launching the program.
If this is something you would like to do with your dog, please send us a message! We are beginning an interest list for upcoming evaluations and training opportunities.
Your dog already loves your family. Let’s help you build the skills to work together.
