Please join us in welcoming Kimberly Kerl principal of Kerl Design to M2 Connect as Director, Brand Engagement + Industry Insights.

Many in our community already know Kim as the Founder and Principal Designer of Kerl Design, a longtime Designhound, industry leader and frequent speaker. She brings more than 30 years of experience in residential architecture and design, along with years of leadership and service within the kitchen and bath industry.

In her new role with M2 Connect, Kim will work across Designhounds and our growing portfolio of programs, helping us develop and manage brand and industry partnerships that create real value for the professionals and companies we bring together.

Kim understands this work from both sides: what designers need from the brands they specify, and what brands need to build stronger, more productive relationships with the design community.

We couldn't be happier to have her joining us in this new capacity.

Clients ask about pocket doors all the time. Sometimes it’s not even a request it’s just a little comment about how they want their current swinging door replaced with a pocket one. You know, kind of like “I want a lever door handle instead of a round door knob.” Easy peasy 🙌 Only, it’s not that simple. Pocket doors require framing changes and other considerations that need to be planned for. Watch and see… 🎥

What is a Permit Pause & is permitting your next project worth it? Clients always want to know if they have to apply for a permit. Short answer…yes…if you’re changing the structure, electrical, mechanical or plumbing in your home. Just updating finishes, nope, probably not. The purpose of a permit is to ensure your safety. Inspections hold contractors responsible for building to code, allow for an independent review of the work, and protects the monetary value of the investment you’re making in your home. It also helps you avoid warranty issues, insurance claim denial and problems when it is time to sell your home.
