Our Story
C. E. Bourne, Sr. bought out the tin ware and sheet metal business of J. W. Sproles and established C. E. Bourne Sheet Metal Works in Greenwood, SC in 1906. C. E. Bourne, Sr. had been employed by J. W. Sproles since 1889 as a roofing and sheet metal mechanic.
The firm has been owned and managed by the Bourne family for 111 years. C. E. Bourne, Jr. operated the business until 1971 and C. E. Bourne, III continued the family management until 1982. Ted S. Bourne incorporated the business in 1984 under the current name of C. E. Bourne & Co., Inc. and was owner/manager until June 2001. The company is presently owned and managed by Judy D. Bourne as a woman-owned business.
Officers of the company are Judy D. Bourne, President, Mike Steadman, Vice President, Scott Bourne, Vice President, Tricia Steadman, Secretary and Ted S. Bourne, Treasurer. C. E. Bourne & Co., Inc. is proud of its heritage and continues to operate under the same values and integrity of its founder's philosophy. C. E. Bourne & Co., Inc. is now a fifth generation family owned business.
