We founded Plush Lawn Irrigation, Inc., in 1991 as a Christian owned and operated Lawn Sprinkler Company. I was formerly a pastor, but was not inspired to reach out into the region with a lawn sprinkler business, to support our family and spread our Christian love and influence to the area. Those Stripes Aren't Paint

They're light. A roller (or the mower deck) bends the grass as it cuts — blades bent away from you reflect light and read bright, blades bent toward you read dark. Same grass, two directions.

The part that matters for lawn health: alternating your mowing pattern each cut keeps ruts from forming and lets the grass stand back up straight. The stripes are the bonus.

Every lawn in Omaha is showing the heat this week. Before you decide your sprinkler system failed — swipe.

Faded half-circles between heads. A tan band hugging the driveway. Water heading for the curb on a slope. In a 100° stretch, even a well-tuned system shows these. Concrete stores heat all day, the far edge of every spray dries first, and baked soil only drinks so fast.

None of that means something's broken. It usually means the schedule was set for a normal summer, not this one — and the fix is timing, not parts. Two shorter cycles an hour apart soak in where one long run heads for the curb.

This heat can be brutal on Omaha lawns. Three things we tell every client:

1. Water deep, water early. Run irrigation between 4 and 9 a.m. One deep soak beats a daily sprinkle — roots follow the moisture down.
2. Raise the mower deck. Cut at 3.5 to 4 inches. Taller grass shades the soil and holds moisture.
3. Skip the fertilizer. Feeding a heat-stressed lawn burns it. Wait for the cool-down.

And if parts of your lawn go brown this week — don't panic. Cool-season grass goes dormant to protect itself. Keep water on it and it comes back.

A wall replacement is usually the start of a bigger conversation.

This homeowner called about an old timber retaining wall that was rotting out. We rebuilt it in block with steps down to the walkway. But the landscaping in back stopped dead at the corner of the house, so we continued it around to the front, matched the rock and edging, and laid new sod where the two met.

Same crew for the wall, the beds, the sod, and the irrigation that keeps it alive. That's the advantage of one local company since 1991.
