That hard rain we just had? It’s exactly the kind of storm that quietly causes damage people don’t notice until weeks later.

The most common culprits we see:

• A sump pump that failed right when it mattered most
• Downspouts that got disconnected or knocked loose, sending water straight at your foundation instead of away from it
• Old windows or foundation cracks letting moisture seep in

Take 5 minutes today to check:

• Your basement floor and corners for damp spots or standing water
• That your downspouts are still connected and pointing away from the house
• Your sump pump is running and the discharge line is clear
