These are pictures of a bathroom in DSM that I'm tiling. The home owner tiled the shower and hired me to do the floor. I have the tile for the floor set and the base is installed. I have 5 pieces of shower tile to cut and set, then I can start to grout everything. These tile are 12 inches wide and 24 inches long.

I have a customer who purchased a different home. After they had been in the house about 3 weeks, water started to seep through the concrete floor in the basement. This was strange because we have not had any rain and the water seepage started where the sewer line went below the floor.

I had the sewer line videoed and discovered a blockage. Before we had the line cleared, when the stool was flushed, you could see the water seep through cracks in the floor.

Last week I was able to open the floor to expose the sewer line. As you can see the cast iron pipe of the line was in bad condition. I removed 15 feet of rotten cast iron and installed new PVC piping. I was able to tie into the PVC above the floor and into PVC under the floor. This solved their blockage, water seeping through the floor and the smell that is associated with an open sewer line. Now comes the fun of replacing the concrete I had to remove.

I have a customer who is getting a larger TV and he did not want to buy a new entertainment center. So I built these two cabinet extensions for his existing unit. He was happy that I was able to take his ideas and make them a reality.

So, if you have a piece of furniture or cabinet that you want fixed or modified please call me. I will also like to talk with you if you want a piece designed and built.

Our daughter's in-laws gave them a dishwasher for Christmas. Their kitchen cabinets are built-ins. I was able to remove the shelves and base from one unit for the dishwasher to fit. All that is left is to run the water lines, electrical and drain lines to it. Merry Christmas Becca and Allen!

This is a vanity that I made for a customer. It is made with left over pre-finished Maple flooring that I had installed in their home. The exterior surfaces is the original finish of the flooring and the interior was left natural.

Hello,

It has been longer than I expected to put this post up. I've been thinking about it for awhile and I know it is going to get some people worked up, but here goes.

It has been suggested that by turning your thermostat down while you are at wok and at night will save you energy. I do not agree with this. I tried it one winter and ended up spending more that year than any other. The best thing to do is to set your thermostat at a temperature that is comfortable to you and leave it alone. I also recommend that you turn your fan on to run.

This will have the fan on your furnace running constantly thus having the air in your home moving always moving. This helps reduce cold or warm spots and you will not feel the sudden rush of air when your furnace does kick on. Another benefit of the fan constantly running is it helps reduce dust in you home as long as you remember to change the filters on a regular baseies.

Now if you are going to e gone for an extended period of time, y all means reduce the temperature in your home. I would suggest not to go below 60 degrees.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.

Thank you and have a great week.

Gary

Hello,

The frost today is an indecation that winter is coming soon. You can also use a heavy frost like we had this morning to see how well your house is insulated. If you look at your roof and the frost is even over the span of your roof, you have a well insulated ceiling. If you see areas where there is no frost or it is melting, this is an indication that you are having a heat loss in this area. If you notice areas of heat loss, it would be wise to have the insulation in your attic checked to see if you have enough insulation and it is evenly placed.

If you have any questions or concerns about my posts, please contact me.

Thank you.

Hello everyone. Now that the weather is getting cooler and winter is approaching, now is the time to winterize your home. To start with, check with your energy supplier to see if they offer energy evaluations of homes. Alliant does offer their clients energy audits where a consultant evaluates the effeciency of your home and recommends how you can make your home more effecient. They also have programs that may help you with the costs of the improvements. Take time to call your energy provider to see how they can help you. In the long run you'll save money on your energy bills and make your home more comfortable.
