Our 20th Anniversary sale was so popular, we are doing it AGAIN! In celebration of 20 years growing, we would like you to enjoy 20% off our entire inventory! Starts today, August 26th through Friday August 28th.

🍁Early Fall? Planting Season Has Resumed🍂
Of all the challenges weather brings to the landscape, it is the hot, dry, windy weather that we find the hardest. Hard on new plants, hard on established plants, hard on us to feel like getting out in the garden and planting. Well, the dog days of summer seem to be behind us now, if they ever really arrived at all this summer.
With hydrated soils, cooler temps, frequent showers...we are in a perfect planting window.

Perennials and shrubs will continue growing new stems, leaves, and in some cases, even new flowers if planted now.
Trees will mostly spend their energy putting out new roots. All plants benefit from September planting as long we aren't in drought conditions. Now is the time!

Every year, we find that the nursery is fullest and most colorful this time of year. Don't wait until plants are going into Fall dormancy if you don't have to.

We are fully stocked all season long! With these cooler temperatures, we're reminded that fall is fast approaching. Don't get us wrong, we are NOT wishing summer away!!

It's a great time to plant with a bit more rain, cooler air temps, but warm soil temps; less stress and risk of drought without the heat of the summer. Planting in the fall gives plants a chance to set their roots in their new home, and wake up in the spring, capturing the full growing season.

This is Logan. 🎤Logan loves our plants. In fact, our plants bring him so much joy he breaks out into song! 🎼 Be like Logan!

Who else out there sings to their plants, or about their plants?

Beautiful weekend at the nursery, nice rain last night and a little more this morning: at least 3/4 inch in the rain gauge. 🌧 I know we keep saying it's excellent planting weather, but with this rain and cooler temps, the planting season has been glorious!

Trees, shrubs, perennials, food forest plants, so many species in bloom, the nursery is magical right now.

We're open 7 days a week, come and see what you may be missing, or didn't know you needed!

Swamp milkw**d, Asclepias incarnata is a local native we grow from wild collected seed. Host plant for Monarch butterflies, as well as Milkw**d Tussock Moth and a nectar source for pollinators of all types! Thrives in full sun, medium-wet soils, deer resistant and can tolerate clay. With a height of 4-5', a long bloom time in the summer, this is a must have in the garden.

Happy August! Could we ask for better garden weather than this weekend? Warm, cloudy day today, followed by rain tomorrow and this coming week. If you’re needing to plant, now’s a great time to visit the nursery and give your garden a boost.

☀️What a beautiful Sunday it is! 🌧️Rain in the forecast this week, great time to visit the nursery and add more color to your garden.

🌳 More plants out of our production: including a fresh new crop of trees: oaks, maples, larch, hazelnuts, serviceberry, birches, catalpas, tulip poplars, basswood and more.

🌼 Liatris, Rudbeckia, Monarda Pynanthemum, Hydrangea, Achillea, Alliums and so many more are putting on quite a show with their colorful blooms.

It's National Moth Week! These are just a few of the species we've seen at the nursery and had the opportunity to photograph!

Sometimes moths get a bad reputation, but as close relatives of butterflies-with the same metamorphosis process, they are very beneficial to our environment. There are moths that are active at night, but just as many are active during the day as well.
North America is home to thousands of different moth species. Moths are important pollinators and food source for songbirds, mammals and other insects.

A few host plants for moths:
Quercus spp. (oak tree) hundreds of species of moths

Asclepias (milkw**d) Milkw**d Tussock Moth

Hydrangea arborescens (smooth hydrangea)- Hydrangea Sphinx Moth

Cephalanthus (buttonbush) Hydrangea Sphinx Moths

Diervilla lonicera (Bush honeysuckle) Fawn Sphinx Moth, Hummingbird Clearwing Moth

Oligoneuron rigidum (Stiff Goldenrod) many species of moths
