⭐️Company Spotlight⭐️

Today’s spotlight is on Charlie Cahill, owner of Skyward Contracting and the person responsible for keeping about 47 moving parts from catching fire at any given time.

Charlie is the guy behind the big picture, the daily decisions, the problem-solving, the customer calls, the production side, the team management, and all the random things that come with owning a roofing and exterior company. If something needs handled, figured out, fixed, explained, approved, ordered, scheduled, or negotiated — it usually finds its way to Charlie.

He’s built Skyward into a company that is local, hardworking, and rooted in doing things the right way. Not the easiest way. Not the fastest way. The right way.

Before he was leading a company, Charlie was leading teams. He was a multi-sport athlete and captain throughout school, and that same competitiveness, discipline, and ability to bring people together still shows up in how he leads today — both at work and at home.

Outside of Skyward, Charlie is a husband and dad to Elijah, 12, Daisy, 9, and Murphy, 4. He takes being a dad seriously, especially when it comes to teaching his kids the importance of hard work, dedication, and showing up for the people who count on you.

That’s especially true with Eli’s wrestling. Charlie is always in his corner — literally and figuratively — supporting him through the wins, losses, practices, tournaments, early mornings, long weekends, and everything that comes with the sport. He knows firsthand what athletics can teach a kid, and he values helping Eli understand that success comes from effort, consistency, toughness, and not quitting when things get hard.

He and Carly will celebrate 10 years of marriage this September, while also raising three kids and building a business together — which is not exactly a low-stress group project, but somehow they keep showing up, figuring it out, and making it work.

Charlie works hard, expects a lot, and cares deeply about the people around him — even if his face doesn’t always notify everyone of that immediately.

He’s the kind of owner who carries the weight of the company quietly, handles the pressure, and keeps showing up every day to move things forward. Skyward wouldn’t be what it is without his drive, grit, stubbornness, and refusal to settle for “good enough.”

Today we’re spotlighting Charlie for everything he does — for the company, the team, the customers, and the family behind it all.

Owner. Husband. Dad. Leader. Coach from the corner.
And the guy who somehow still answers the phone.

⭐️Company Spotlight⭐️

Allow us to reintroduce you to the one who makes the insurance companies pay up — Elizabeth Stewart, our Head of Claims.

Born and raised in Grove City, Elizabeth’s been with us just under a year—but what she’s done in that time? Not small.

She’s the one behind the scenes making sure our customers don’t get shorted. Fighting for what’s owed, pushing back when it matters, and getting claims across the finish line when most people would’ve given up.

At home, she’s juggling a full house—her fiancé Landon, her kids Bobby, Lucy, and Amelia, two dogs (Ozzy & Yoda), a cat (Buddy)… and somehow, a tortoise named Ace. Oh—and she’s currently growing another human while she’s at it.

Free time? It’s spent reading, outside, or off on adventures with her kids—basically doing everything and still showing up like she didn’t just do everything.

What keeps her here is the balance—being able to go all in at work while still being fully present at home when it matters most. And yeah, working alongside some of her oldest and newest friends… including her fiancé—who, according to her, is her least favorite salesman to deal with.

At the end of the day, Elizabeth isn’t just part of the process—she’s the reason a lot of these jobs actually get paid.

And around here, that makes her indispensable.

⭐️Company Spotlight⭐️

Today’s spotlight is on Hunter Coil, Skyward’s Production Manager and one of the youngest members of our team — which means he has the energy to keep up with the job board and the misfortune of being trusted with everyone’s questions.

Hunter plays a huge role in what happens after a customer signs with Skyward. Once jobs are contracted, he helps keep everything moving behind the scenes — tracking job progress, updating files, ordering materials, coordinating details, and making sure the office doesn’t slowly descend into a pile of sticky notes, shingle colors, and “did we order that yet?” conversations.

He handles all of our material ordering and serves as a main point of contact for our roofing and siding crews. That means when materials need ordered, schedules need checked, crews need answers, or jobs need updated, Hunter is usually somewhere in the middle of making sure it all gets handled.

And while production may not always be the loudest part of the business, it is one of the most important. Hunter helps keep jobs organized, communication moving, and the day-to-day flow of the office running smoother. He’s dependable, steady, and willing to jump in where he’s needed — which makes him a big part of why things keep moving forward.

Outside of work, Hunter lives with his wife, Makenzie, and their recently rescued dog, Cooper. So along with managing roofing and siding crews during the day, he also goes home to a rescue dog — which means patience and problem-solving are apparently just part of his lifestyle now.

Hunter may be one of the younger members of the team, but he carries a lot of responsibility and does it well. He is important to Skyward, important to our production process, and important to the people around him.

Today we’re spotlighting Hunter for the work he does, the role he fills, and the way he helps keep everything moving once the contract is signed.

Production Manager. Material orderer. Crew contact. Job tracker.
And officially important enough to get his own spotlight.

⭐️Company Spotlight⭐️

Meet Dennis Blake— one of our Project Managers here at Skyward Contracting.

Dennis lives in North Columbus with his wife and kids, and if there’s one thing you should know about him, it’s this: the man can fix just about anything. House projects, jobsite problems, random mechanical mysteries… Dennis is usually the guy who somehow knows what to do. Is it always explained in the most polished, HR-approved way? Absolutely not. But is he usually right? Somehow, yes.

Dennis started with us as our Quality Control guy before moving into sales three years ago, which means he knows the work from the ground up. He’s not just out here talking roofs — he understands what a quality job is supposed to look like and makes sure customers are taken care of the right way.

He may be covered in tattoos and a little rough around the edges, but don’t let that fool you. Dennis is a giant softy, especially if there’s an animal nearby. We’re talking full baby-talk mode. No shame. No hesitation. Just a tattooed grown man sweet-talking a random dog like it’s his emotional support coworker.

When he’s not helping customers or keeping us on our toes with whatever sentence comes out of his mouth next, Dennis enjoys tackling DIY projects around his house and spending time with his family.

We’re grateful to have Dennis on the Skyward team — he brings knowledge, personality, loyalty, and a whole lot of heart to everything he does.

Introducing another one of our seasoned project managers..

Meet Katy Judkins — born in Missouri, raised right here in Grove City, and one of the women helping prove that this industry isn’t just for the guys anymore. Roofing, inspections, insurance claims, project management — she’s showing every day that women can absolutely thrive in this business.

Katy balances life as a wife, mom of three, church choir singer, coffee shop volunteer, podcast learner, and part-time Target/TJ Maxx financial contributor. Somehow she still has the energy to help homeowners navigate stressful situations while making the process feel a whole lot less overwhelming.

She loves meeting new people and helping homeowners find solutions that not only protect their homes, but improve the look of them too. Whether it’s storm restoration or exterior upgrades, Katy genuinely cares about helping people feel confident in the process from start to finish.

Outside of work, you’ll usually find her walking metro parks, listening to podcasts, reading something educational, or disappearing into an internet rabbit hole that started with one innocent question and somehow ended two hours later.

She brings a calm, approachable personality to the team, but behind that is somebody incredibly driven, sharp, and great with people — which makes her a perfect fit for this role.

We’re excited to keep watching Katy grow with the company… although somebody may need to hide her Target receipts before accounting gets concerned.

⭐️Company Spotlight⭐️

Introducing another seasoned team member at Skyward, our Head of Recruiting, Nate Frase.

Born and raised in Columbus, Nate’s been holding it down at Skyward for a while now — usually somewhere between a customer’s roof, a dirtbike trail, or spending absolutely irresponsible amounts of money on motorcycles, Toyotas, and things that probably shouldn’t be discussed in front of a financial advisor.

When he’s not working, he’s hanging out with his wife Desiree and their two boys, Adam and August, teaching them important life skills like how to appreciate national parks and how to justify buying another project vehicle nobody asked for.

Nate’s the kind of guy who can joke his way through just about anything, which honestly makes him dangerously good with customers. He keeps things laid back, keeps people laughing, and somehow manages to make climbing around on steep roofs all day seem like a normal personality trait.

Because of that, Nate recently stepped into a new role with Skyward as our Recruiting Director — helping grow the team and bring in the right people. He’s naturally good with people, easy to talk to, and somehow capable of convincing complete strangers to join a roofing company while probably roasting them at the same time. Honestly, it makes him the perfect fit for the job.

In Nate’s own words, his favorite part of the job is “getting to hangout on random people’s roofs all day and nobody calls the cops on me.” Which, surprisingly, is still one of the more normal things we’ve heard him say around the office.

We’re glad to have him on the team — even if HR probably shouldn’t read this post too carefully; go easy on him Gunther.
