New project underway in Tavares.
This 1950s concrete-block home is getting a full interior remodel — kitchen, both bathrooms, and all three bedrooms — plus code-compliant windows throughout and a whole-house electrical rewire. Original cloth wiring and dated, inefficient windows are coming out. Builder-grade, durable finishes are going in.
Demo is in full swing:
• Outdated bathrooms and kitchen cabinets are coming down

• An interior wall in one bedroom is open so we can reframe a larger walk-in closet

• A false soffit that dropped the kitchen ceiling is gone — height is back to the original plate line

• Behind the kitchen cabinets: original wallpaper that hasn’t seen daylight in decades
This is the messy middle. Next up is rough-in, inspections, and then the finishes that will make this house rental-ready and built to last.
Follow along. We’ll post the progress from demo through turnover.

Whole-home remodel kicking off in Tavares.
This 1950s block home is getting brought into the 21st century — the right way, not a cosmetic flip.
Scope: • Whole-home electrical rewire
• New energy-efficient windows
• Two full bathroom remodels
• Kitchen remodel
• Bedroom refresh
• Foundation repair as part of the work, not an afterthought
Demo starts next week. Photos coming as we open it up.
On a house this age, the hidden work matters as much as the finishes. Wiring, openings, and the foundation have to be right before the new kitchen and baths go in.

Florida weather did what Florida weather does this week — afternoon storms, humidity, and rain that can shut a site down if you aren’t ready for it.
We still got the roof installed and stucco started. HVAC and electrical both moved forward. Next target: framing inspection in the next two weeks.
That’s custom home building. Drawn plans get you most of the way there. The last details get worked out in the field. Outlets shift because of framing. Vents on the MEP plan don’t line up exactly the way the architect and energy auditor drafted them. It happens on almost every custom job.
The difference is how you handle it. Clear communication between the architect, the owner, and the subcontractors is what turns those field changes into a clean ex*****on instead of a delay.
Progress over perfect drawings. Communication over surprises.

We’re deep into the mechanical rough-in phase on this large custom home, and the progress is exciting.
Plumbing, HVAC, and electrical rough-ins are actively being installed throughout the house. The vaulted ceilings in the main living areas required careful coordination, and our team built a custom attic platform strong enough to support three of the four air handlers. This allowed us to eliminate the originally planned mechanical closets and convert that square footage into usable storage — a real value-add for the homeowners.
One of those former mechanical spaces has been turned into a dedicated network/server room to handle the extensive smart-home system. Low-voltage work is underway now and includes:
• Whole-home audio
• Wireless access points
• Dedicated circuits for the game room
• Full security system pre-wire
The standout feature this week is the custom fireplace media wall. We framed a massive structure with shelving on both sides, LED backlighting provisions, a TV recess sized for a 98” television, and a fireplace opening capable of accepting a 90” linear gas insert. It’s going to be a showpiece once the drywall and finishes go in.

When the window package arrived in a full cargo container, we hit a classic jobsite moment — nobody else was set up to run the SkyTrak. I climbed in, got those big, high-performance units off the truck safely, and staged them perfectly with help from the installers and the homeowner himself.
That’s the kind of all-in approach we bring to every custom home at Garner Custom Homes. These aren’t standard windows — they’re selected for Florida’s demanding climate, 140 mph wind loads, and top-tier energy performance so the Shirley family stays comfortable for decades.
Proud to lead a crew that treats every project like it’s our own and jumps in when it counts.

🚀 Framing Phase Complete on this Custom Home Project!
We just wrapped up setting the roof trusses on what was easily one of the most complex roof systems we’ve tackled. Cathedral ceilings soaring up to 22 feet, multiple roof lines and pitches, plus several elevation changes — this roof demanded precision at every step.
Interior framing is also nearly finished, with the majority of bedrooms and closets now in place. We even executed a key field revision on a 22’ span, installing an LVL to properly support the end gable wall.
Today the crew is finishing the decking, installing the front decorative posts, and triple-checking every piece of hardware and connector. Safety and structural integrity are non-negotiable.
We’re on track to bring in the trades middle to end of next week. Excited to keep the momentum going on this beauty!
