Every time hardwood is refinished, some wood has to come off. The goal should be to remove only what’s necessary.

HQ Hardwood Floors uses Bona Power Drive for more controlled sanding that helps preserve the wear layer — so your floors stay refinishable longer. We follow REVIVE → RECOAT → REFINISH → RESTORE: sand only when it’s truly needed.

You don't need new floors to change the color of the ones you have.

Bernardsville, NJ - five days, Monday to Saturday. A couple of repairs first, then a full sand back to bare wood. The owner wasn't happy with the color the floor had, so we changed it: recolored in Bona Provincial, one coat of sealer, two coats of Bona Mega One.

Once a floor is sanded down to bare wood, the color is a decision - not something you're stuck with.

Upstairs is heart pine, the old-growth wood you only find in houses of a certain age. What gets sold as heart pine today is almost always reclaimed. We refinished that too.
