Excited to see the Haddonfield Living magazine article about our clients, Alex and Sam, and the journey their home took after a big storm. JRA is so glad we could be a part of the transformation. Thank you, Alex and Sam... and to Haddonfield Living for telling the story.

We are having such a great time working on this little storybook cottage. The project is focused on multi generational living and aging in place. Along the way, we get to appreciate all of the homes little details. The tiny door is actually covering steps for basement access... so much more personality than a standard Bilco door!

Before and After...

If you saw my post of the front of this house, you may have noticed a gambrel roof, which seemed a little foreign to a normally balanced center hall colonial design. When designing the new addition at the back of the house, we used the same gambrel roof design element that already existed on the front... linking both the back and front with intentionality. The gambrel roof also helped gain usable space in the attic. The addition not only creates more space, but also provides a stronger connection between the family room and the yard. The combination of traditional and contemporary details and finishes echoes the goal of a family embracing a traditional home with updates that support a contemporary lifestyle.

We are incredibly grateful to partner with clients who share our passion for thoughtful design!

In what seems like an era of tear downs, some homes are just worth saving!

This home had seen the wear and tear of supporting many families over the last century, and now it's ready for its next 100 years of presence on Chews Landing Road. I love helping today's families embrace a traditional home with updates that support a contemporary lifestyle.

This project actually brought the home back to some of its roots... with updates such as removing the aluminum siding that was present and rebuilding the screen porch with the proportional columns that it needed.

We're all about discussing design options with our clients. Custom storage solutions like this allow you to walk right up instead of walking in. Maybe a closet with bi-fold doors isn't the best choice. Maybe you don't want a walk in closet that you're sure will become a black hole full of "stuff." As a custom residential architecture firm, we work with all of our clients to help them choose the very best solutions for their particular needs.

Field Trip Friday - Love when the team can join and we can learn and have fun at the same time. And today we also learned just how smart a goat can be... seems pretty efficient to just take over the hay cart at lunchtime!😄

Most people buy a house for the life they're living the day they walk through it. But a home has to hold a family for far longer than that — through the years the kids are in school, through the milestones you can see coming and the ones you can't, and sometimes through a stage of life you haven't even started to imagine yet.

So the question that matters when you're standing in a house you love isn't really "Is this a good house?" It's "Can this house become the home my family will need — not just now, but ten and twenty years from now?"

That's a hard question to answer from a showing. It's the question I can help buyers and their agents answer before they commit.
