Did you know that fertilizer can actually be a cause for your lawn to turn brown?
At Hott’s we do not apply fertilizer when it’s not needed. Applying too much fertilizer or applying during a drought can actually hurt your grass instead of helping it. Fertilizer contains salts that speed up the release of nutrients. During a drought, there’s no water to distribute the fertilizer through the soil, so it sits on top of the dirt and hinders the grass’s water intake. Also, applying too much fertilizer—even with normal watering—can lead to oversaturation of salt in the soil and actually bring the water out of the plant!
Many lawn companies say that they know this, but they’ll still apply fertilizer in the middle of a summer drought. That’s not helping your lawn! At Hott’s, we prioritize the health of your lawn over making money. We will NOT apply fertilizer when it's not needed, especially during dry periods. If your lawn doesn’t need the treatment, you won’t pay for it. If you want to learn more about fertilization or talk about pricing, call Josiah at 240-816-1177.
