❄️ Disconnect all garden hoses

Question: Mr. Lasiter, what’s one piece of advice you would offer as temperatures are starting to rise?

Answer: It’s time to practice shutting off your water. Yup, you heard that right...you need to practice!
Find the water shutoff valve at your home(usually in a front flower bed). Practice turning it off today, and verify inside that the water is off. You can turn it back on with peace of mind that at the sign of any leak, you can shutoff your water and call a plumber.

Governor Abbott extended the Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners for 2 years.

Many Texas plumbers are worried that state lawmakers just allowed the industry to become deregulated.

In their latest session, the politicians of this Great State have decided to abolish the Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners. As a Master Plumber for the last 45 years, it is my opinion that this is a terrible decision. I would agree that the Board could do better, but to totally do away with this establishment is a grave mistake. This Board is currently responsible for administration and enforcement of the Texas Plumbing License Law through examination, licensing, enforcement and administration of all plumbers in the state. After September 1st, no license is required to perform ANY type of plumbing service in the State. The current requirements to sit for the exam to obtain a Tradesman plumbing license are working under a Master Plumber for 4,000 hours and attending a Board-run test review class. If they cannot pass the exam after completing these requirements, then they DO NOT NEED TO BE PERFORMING PLUMBING IN SOMEONE’S HOUSE. Without having a State Board these individuals cannot be held accountable.

I need for you to do the following to help get Governor Abbott to save the State Board of Plumbing:
1. Sign the online petition at http://chng.it/kMDkwy568X.
2. Call the Governor’s office AT 512-463-2000 and leave a message asking him to call a special session of the State Legislature to vote on House Bill 1550.
