Why do we use concrete along the outside of a paver walkway? 

Locks the pavers in place

A concrete edge helps keep the pavers from shifting, spreading, or separating over time, especially with foot traffic, weather, and ground movement.

Creates a controlled drainage area

A properly designed concrete edge can help direct water and keep runoff from washing out the base material or surrounding landscape.

Creates a cleaner transition

Concrete gives the walkway a defined edge while creating a smooth, intentional transition from the pavers to the lawn, garden beds, or surrounding landscape.

Better curb appeal

The combination of pavers and a clean concrete border gives the walkway a finished, professional look that ties the hardscape into the rest of the yard.

We level and compact a gravel base before building a retaining wall because it creates a stable, well-drained foundation. That foundation helps the wall stay straight and resist movement over time.

It was an honor to be part of such a historic milestone and celebrate alongside thousands of community members and visitors. From the festive atmosphere to the amazing people we met, this year’s festival was one to remember.

A big thank you to everyone who stopped by, said hello, and helped make the weekend so special. We’re grateful to support events that bring our communities together and look forward to many more years of serving Michigan.
