Sometimes old-school is better than the new school in a pinch. This was taught to me in Brooklyn, NY when I was teen redoing apartments and learning all aspects of construction where I could. It has been a long time since I made and used them regularly, when you're in a pinch and need to retape close to a thousand foot of someone else's bad work, you can fly through the taping process like this with perfect consistency and giving a prefect tape job.
I know, I know it's not a fancy banjo feeder, however, when it comes to fill capacity the banjo can only run 40-60 foot if you're lucky on an thinned out soupy refill. I can run 5 gallons at a time if needed with the same perfect mix ;) For clean up at the end of the day you just put a lid on it. It costs $2.00, no maintenance required and doesnt have a risk of getting damaged.
It honestly brought out a lot of personal nostalgia using it for this job. It helped rekindle some old memories for me and reminded me of some of the really great teachers I had along the way in life and things that were just done to the best way possible for the era to speed up production. The tape bucket STILL WORKS!
